Update* I've called and tried asking my recruiter about the time and date for the orientation but she hung up on me. I'll call the higher ups for help then.

I've been accepted by FFE for their academy and I'm scheduled to start my cdl training on February 3, 2013. I've been giving the benefit of a doubt to this company because I've read some pretty bad reviews about their academy before their 'renovation' but I got a sour taste in my mouth after they have me the wrong information for my first day at the academy. My recruiter, Talana, told me to be at the hotel at any time on February 27 and that I would get shuttled to the school the following day, she didn't mention the time, and so I decided against staying the night at the hotel instead of home, since it was an option she said, and the following day I believed I could be there at any time as I was told but this wasnt the case. I wasn't told the shuttle would be there at 7am and so I missed it and I had to reschedule until February. WOW. I'm already 2 weeks late on all of my bills and I have to wait even longer. I'm frustrated by the lack of communication coming from FFE. They call me everyday and don't even mention such basic info as what time to be there..lol

They're not babysitters. YOU need to be assertive and get EXACT info. You do this by asking questions. This is a "big boy" business. Just telling it to you straight.

I agree you should ask some questions, but since you are new to the industry, I will not hold that against you. Use this as a lesson learned. We all make mistakes, and that includes the recruiter. Did you apply with any other of the 'CDL Mills'?
I would check with some of them and see what they say. The worst they can do is say no.
Good luck to you and learn EVERYTHING you can from your trainer.

But if u been accepted what does your GED have anything to do with any of it? From now on you better ask questions write them down if u have to but dont let it happen again look at u now ur two weeks behind all for not paying attention. You want this not them they have students lined up u only have them lined up right now. It will happen again trust that but be ready guy think ahead. Or just think a little bit. GOODLuck let us know how it goes.

Here is what I would have done different....I would have called 1 or 2 days prior to orientation and confirmed the shuttle time. Its what we call outhere "calling to confirm an appointment" Lesson learned dont sweat it move on.

"Crap, I forgot to ask the DM what time I'm supposed to pick up this load. I guess I'll show up around noon and see if it's ready."

You're not off to a great start, kid.

Am I missing something? Its only Jan 28. How can you miss a shuttle if you're not expected to be there until Feb 27? Also, if she told you the shuttle was going to pick you up the following day why would you assume you could be there any time you wanted? You should have asked "What time will the shuttle pick me up?"

I live by the saying "Error on the side of Caution" I never assume anything. I always ask questions. Best of luck to you getting it sorted out!
