I am starting my new "career" after reading all the bad posts here about what companies to NOT drive for I am totally depressed. Where can a person go that just got their CDL A, and needs to earn some time & experience behind the wheel? I was looking at Werner, and was "pre-approved with US Express & Stevens. I have no actual driving time other than school to get my CDL. I thought I had enough to worry about, now I have to worry about getting reamed by these same companies out to make a quick cheap buck on my back.
I have a family to feed...any thoughts from you more experienced guru's?
Thanks,
Digger13

You know I was in the same spot you are, and I started to listen to people here on this forum. It looks like Schnieder National is one of the top companies out there, at leased they are respected by the drivers on this channel... Good luck.

there are alot of good companys out there, just take your time.there are drivers that had there experience and come on here to vent, but just a reminder it is one side to the issue.not saying the driver is lying but people in general will stretch the truth or leave out infomation to make there point look good for them. -
He already has his CDL. Schneider is a decent choice if you can't afford to swing your own schooling. Not sure that it would be a top choice for someone that has a CDL.
Digger13 Whate state do you live in? What do you want to pull? How much hometime are you wanting? -
I am currently out of San Diego, CA. Looking to haul a dry box. It would be great to at least get the schedule that Werner "promises" in their brochure,
Approx 17 days out 3 days home. I am willing to pay my dues but in a few years I'm hoping to shift a little more home time for my kids. A friend of mine with 20 years in the business suggested Schnieder National too. He also said that he didn't think Werner was as bad as it is made out here. I just want to get my start off right, don't get sabatoged and get the extra time training that I need to become productive and get out of debt.
Thanks for any input!

Check into the moving companies " commercial division ".. United would be a good start because their the biggest. If you need real cash now. .This is your option. Summer is here, and it's the busiest time of the season. You should have no prob gettin picked up. Stay away from schneider and all those other yahoos.. They set you up to fail.
