Just wondering what life is like and what is the difference between driving for an expedited company vs going regional or over the road? Better or worse?

This is like asking what is the best truck. It comes down to preference. Expedite should ay better rate per mile but you will sit more. Get with a good company and you can make more with less miles in expediting.
Best is one that will let you run both types. That way you can get something to move from dead areas or fill in when things are slow. (That is how we do it - go figure I think it is a better way . ) -

It's interesting to note that after many years of success in the industry the Madsens are getting out of it . Expedite pay isn't what it once was .
One difference from regional is most expediters stay out 3 or 4 weeks at a time . There are some running solo but husband and wife teams are preferred .secorp, JetAgeHobo and BigBadBill Thank this. -
hmm the company i applied to is a smaller company and said they said four days out at a time max..i just wanted to know in general is the pay any better or worse and are most expedited drop and hooks or???

Just got a call from the "broker" I"m doing local deliveries for, tomorrow only 4 stops and 8 pieces. Told him to put it on Tuesday's route and see him Tues. We've also just got 6-8 inches of snow, more coming. I REALLY want to be delivering office furniture over someone's unshoveled sidewalk/steps. NOT. Have calls into other delivery brokers, this one's a bust it seems. Give him about 2 more weeks before I turn in notice, either go to a company paid CDL school and OTR or pursue expediting more so.Last edited: Mar 24, 2013
