Do you really need a CB out there on the road? With having a cell phone and the qualcomm, is it really needed anymore?

It has its own specific purpose. Communicating with the trucks around you very useful. Hazards, delays, will tell you if something is wrong with your truck. Some shippers communicate through the CB. I highly recommend it.

No. Just do everyone a favor and stay on the interstate where your trusty cellphone and Qualcomm will do you the most good.

And to summarize that thread, you do not NEED one but they can come in very handy for traffic alerts and dealing with shippers and receivers that will only tell you you are done via the CB.

I did not have one until I sat one night at a receiver who told me they would come out and tell me I was done (and wasn't allowed to come in and check) but didn't and only found out when the next driver who had that dock told me to move. Found out they had called me an hour before on the CB to tell me I was done.

I bet if they outlawed CB radios THEN you'd want one!

Seriously why wouldn't one want all the communication tools available to them?

You could get one to be safe, but their mostly used for trucker gossip, racist guys hide behind them, and those same guys used them for talking with lot lizards. (Trucker stop hookers)

Be like all the other drivers, buy one and keep it off until you're backed up in traffic and then turn it on and ask why you're backed up...

But seriously, I wouldn't be out there without one. Even if you don't keep it turned on or up enough to hear it.

It's better to have and not need, then to need and not have.
