| Technical Question FMCSA regulation part 393.201 (Frames) states, parts and accessories cannot be "welded" onto the frame except in accordance with the vehicle manufacturer's recommendations. What exactly does this mean? Can I not weld anything at all to the frame of my truck?? Do I have to bolt everything I want to attach to the frame no matter what it is?? Thanks. |

| The frame is hardened steel, your not supposed to weld on it as the molecules will spread and weaken the frame, but the really important thing is welding on your frame causes a chemical reaction and can ruin your engine and also cook your sensors and especially your computer if you have one in your system. its really high tech but you need to ask a cat dealer,or diesel certified mechanic and a certified welder. all you need to do is ask the question on goggle, they will answer it one way or another. |

holes also cause stress concentrations, where the frame can start cracking leading to fracture. |
