| question regarding employment history.. sorta i've been with my current employer for 4.5 years, and am in the process / going to be attending school to get my CDL starting the 29th. is it a bad thing im quitting my current job to take the class? is it gonna make me look bad to prospective employers after the class is over with? ill prob get a job at mickey d's or somewhere for supplemental income while im going to school, but working grave and taking the course from 6a-12n just wouldnt work. | Most trucking co's want to see atleast 3 yrs of employment. I wouldnt worry about quiting your current job though. Just dont burn any bridges. Cause most will call previous employers.. Sounds like you should be in good shape. |

| This won't hurt you at all. When you put your reason for quitting, you will be writing down "to attend truck driving school" As for working somewhere like McDonalds, employers will understand your employment time there as well, since you will have school time listed to coinside with it. As Scabs said, the important thing is to leave your current employer on good terms. Former employers are not supposed to be able to say anything about you other than verifying you worked there, but I know for a fact this isn't always the case. |

 thanks for the help guys, just a very nervous time to be quitting my job after being there so long. on a good note, I GOT THE LOAN! heheh start school on may 29th at scott community college in davenport iowa. |

| It would be a good idea to talk to the companies you're interested in before making any financial comittments to a school. Make sure you're eligible for these companies and make sure the school you chose meets their requirements. The last thing you want hear, after paying for and attending school, is that you aren't eligible for the companies of choice. |

Just depends on why you wanted to quit your current job and attend the school. But it shouldn't be a major problem. You shouldn't make this decision lightly. Research the job and it's requirements. Trucking is definately not for everyone and often requires working odd hours. This message board is filled with information. Do your homework before making the switch.

| just a matter of scheduling, i work 10p-630a currently, and the class starts at 6a. far as trucking goes, my great grandfather, and father were truck drivers. my grandfather, and 3 of my uncles are truckers, one runs teams with his wife . |
