My last pair of redwings lasted 9 years.I think I got my monies worth. Sad day when I took them behind the barn and put a .22 in each toe and buried them.

I do the same. Except I don't wear flip flops in the truckstop, Tennis shoes for that, flip flops to drive and steel toes for the plants. -
I switch between tennis shoes and two pairs of boots depending on the type of unloading I'm doing that day. I need the low profile of a tennis shoe to get my feet under boxes for one type. Another I need durable leather work boots that I don't care will get scraped up because they will definitely get torn up unloading. On the easy days I wear my hunting boots that I don't want to tear up. They're also my crap load of snow and lots of rain boots.

I always wore steel toe work boots because they were required in the places I went to load and unload. I never felt right being around equipment in sneakers, and I just never wear flip flops as a matter of personal preference(EXCEPT in a truckstop shower!!) Spend the money for the good boots; red wing or lehigh are good; I used to like georgia boot products, but they're not as good as they used to be, IMO. Wear what's comfortable for you that's ok with your company, I'd say.
Oh, yeah, I forgot......."OIL-RESISTANT SOLES"!!!! .....You'll be glad you did -
any thing that is comfortable with you and non slip is the best way to go
-
Holey socks for driving and cowboy boots with spurs for dealing with the public. J/K I got some comfortable composite safety toe work boots, OSHA approved, etc. Haven't needed anything else yet.
-
I wear a comfy pair of shoes to drive and put on my steel tow boots as shiper/cosign

You are only allowed to wear flip flops and sandals any darn where you please when you graduate boy scout truckin & become a real trucker and NO you only speak for wana be a trucker but still in the army mental status Mr If this is still America then you need to know that by now and if this is your truck stop you are talking a bout then you need to tell me where it's at I don't need a schmuck to tell me how to dress when I'm spending $$$$ in his /her DUMP

And don't worry about what others think. That means don't get pissed off when people judge you by your appearance.
