I wouldn't be here if I wanted to adhere to a dress code and work a 9-5 -- & I'd be making a hell of a lot more money.

I keep my truck & trailers in top shape, drive safely & courteously, and always arrive on time. I keep clean, have no tattoos, no holes where god didn't put one, all my natural teeth, & most of my hair. I don't much care if a cigarette-stenched knuckledragger thinks I'm a poor representation the industry.

Some people seem to think that driving a truck give them an excuse to dress like a circus freak. If you are sitting around the house, or around the truck stop off duty, you can relax, but if you are working in sweat pants, sandals, flip flops, or a 3 day old coffee stained shirt, you are a disgrace. The sad part is how proud some people are to look disgraceful. I was taught to drive truck by a man who wore work pants, and a button down shirt when he did his job. He would not even think about climbing into a truck without being dressed presentably. I guess having respect for yourself is a dying notion these days.

lol I don't really care what someone says is proper attire. I wear my sandals, my flip flops, my track pants and sports attire all the time. Just because you ol' guys are stuck wearing tight Levi's and boots with ugly plaid shirts doesn't mean I'm going to do the same. Comfort first and foremost. Don't even give me the safety talk, you can drive just fine in sandals.

Truckers wear boots, pants and button up shirts. Steering wheel holders and seat warmers wear tennis shoes, sweat pants, shorts, tank tops, and flip flops. And my personal favorite, flip flops with socks. Ummmm.......sexy!

Wow, so let me get this straight Canuck. You are saying that because it is 2013 I am odd duck for taking pride in my appearance and caring what others think about me? Because it is 2013 I should be a "normal" trucker and let my appearance go? You know, I do not have a PhD, but I have figured out that there is a way to dress comfortably for driving and still look good. There is a reason truckers are looked down upon in society and considered inferior despite the importance of the job and the hard work and training involved. How we appear when society sees us in the travel plazas and rest areas is the reason for this.
