    Hey all,

Been gone the last week. Was at orientation with my new company Comcar CTL Tanker. I got very lucky to start in Tankers and Local out of CDL school. lol. :)

Well, I went to Orientation last Monday. Stayed in a hotel from Sunday Night till Friday. Drove my own vehicle. We only had two people in class. That was kinda cool. Instructors and staff were awesome.

Went over alot of stuff and had to do hands on Friday. Took Quizzes ect ect. Learned alot. (Surge is no joke!!) heh

I start monday with a trainer for about 3-6 weeks and I'm really looking forward to it. We drive daycabs with Ultra-Shift Automatics. (They are pretty nice).

    I'm pretty happy right now.

What should I expect in my first 6 months? ty

I edited my post so you'll sleep better at night knowing I'm one of many that you are probably policing on these forums.

    My bad.

Congrats, do they have a terminal up in Jacksonville? I put in an app for CT, as far as I know they have a tank/bulk deal down by Tampa and Port Canaveral.

Good deal. Stay relaxed and take all the notes you can. Your notes can be from items on the truck to where the best places are to eat. I wished I had the ideas to do that. I could just believe what I could do with the computer and have folders with a wild sort of info listed right at my fingers tips. Instead of watching TV on my down-time I'd be getting that all together. I remember I made a stop when I was hauling a huge modified bulldozer for the NVY. I got out in no-where and ordered a fish dinner. I knew it had to be bad with no watch around but it was the best Cod fish I had. I walked out saying that's the best and not writing it down. Well after awhile I thought I'd better write that down so I won't miss it again. It was a small mom and pop place least to a truck stop and to this day I can not remember. Oh well I write them done now. A computer is cool because you can track you trip in excel and have all the markers where you want to eat and sleep.

Sillen, one thing that you might do a little later on is ask if they have a truck with a manual transmission so you can keep your skill up. If they do they ask on your spray time if you could drive it around. If not then stay at the company to gain all you can from it and it you end up happy there then you've found a career.

Yeah, there is a terminal here I work out of. I got a Local gig so it's nice. :)
I work for CTL which is the Tanker division. CT is the Flatbed. Their office is in the same building.

I hear ya. They had a couple of 6 speed manual shifts but got rid of them. All the trucks are Ultra-Shift Autos now. Pretty decent. My Trainer and I are in his Daycab, we are local (as I mentioned) and haul Hazmat around from like 4am to 5pm. I'm liking this alot and eager to learn.

One day I'll get my own truck, but they don't rush you. Hazmat is no joke! They will make sure I know what I need to know and more.

I have to take a verbal test on the phone with my Terminal manager to pass and be able to go on my own, but that is 3-6 weeks out. :)
