My best advice: Kill them with kindness. Have you ever been mad at a driver for cutting you off, whatever, and you honk your horn or let them know they are number one, and their reaction is to wave and smile...doesn't that aggravate you more than when they respond in like? Maybe not the best example but you get the idea. I deliver on a dedicated account to a home improvement chain. We have 44 different stores and there are 3 in particular I don't want to see any more than they want to see me (and the reason why is because when they didn't unload me within their window I returned to the distribution center with their load, after I warned them about the time window and told them I had other deliveries to make), but when I am there I am polite and smile. When they are nasty, I turn up the sweet without being smarmy or sarcastic. You can just see them getting frustrated. Mostly their problems aren't with you in particular. They don't like their job, or themselves, and want everyone to be as miserable as them.

The problem with this person is that they're lazy & unhappy. The dock that you use must be the furthest one from where the deli is and I'd have to assume that this person does not care how this affects the produce manager as well. Taking this into account, the deli manager could care less about how anyone feels. It's all about themselves and their job, and screw everyone else. If your job happens to send you out there anyway, I'd be very professional and careful around this person. Kill them with kindness in every way that you can. When they come out to sign their bills, act excited to see them and greet them with the biggest smile that you can. Regardless of how they want George on the scene and how rude this person acts, react act with an overflowing sense of generosity - kind of like you would around one of your favorite family members. Then when you're leaving wish them well and go on your merry way. This will either show them that your boat can't be rocked or make them loose it, which will work in your favor. You've already let your boss know that you're facing someone with hostilities towards you for no apparent reason other than doing your job. I would put it in writing for your own protection just in case the deli manager decides to blur the lines and turn the tables on you.

It's pretty simple to me,many years ago i said, the only person that can get me down is me,don't worry about her at all. If she wants to be that way fine,as long as you know you are a good person and doing your job the best you know how to do it,takibg care of the folks you love or work for,it doesn't matter. Grin and bear it,when you leave take a break, unwind and thank God for taking care of you,he may be watching her more than you. Good luck to you, don't worry be happy.

I would continue as you are. If you have to go there, Do as you do. If she does not like you, no matter what Dock you use there will be friction. So in short, Be nice yet, I would ask to go more if nothing to make her have a bad day.. Some times Fight Fire with Fire, and what I am saying your fighting a fire with fire with a touch of Kindness, but kindness by being nice to her....

Thanks Head Rush. How did you know the dock I was using was the one farthest away from her? So far they haven't sent me back. The other guy told me he just dosen't speak to her when she is in one of her moods. Life is to short to worry about that type of person. Have a nice Memorial Day. Toby

My cousin is a receiver for Home Depot. When he took is position as receiver the first thing he did was tear down the receiving hours sign. He will usually take anyone in when they get there unless they're acting like an *** for some reason. I have to deliver to a grocery store once in awhile where the receiver will take at least an hour and a half to check in two pallets. He likes to be very detailed. All the drivers hate going there. This past Friday a driver came in while he was checking me in (saw him pull in 35 minutes ago at the time) he was yelling "I've waited at least 35 minutes so far". I'm a driver I have 9 more stops to do" I think it made the guy go even slower. I know your right, it takes all kinds. Why let one person(s) ruin your day. Take care, Toby

I asked why and the only reason she told me was because I use the wrong dock. May God and the force be with her. She must really hate her job and or her life.

I used to listen sometime to tapes from a speaker by the name of Zig Ziglar. He used to say the same thing. Only we can control how we feel about things. We can't give someone else that power. Thanks for reminding me.

I have dealing with people like that for 34 years of trucking Don`t let it get to you,it will reflect in your driving and having a bad day.
