What do the trailer apron/skirts do that hang down the sides of the trailers? Is it to decrease wind drag/road splash? I've also noted that some trailers have these funky looking flaps underneath the trailers. Looks like multiple mudflaps that hang underneath the entire length of the trailer.

The skirts that run along both sides are for wind deflection. Increasing aerodynamics and fuel efficiency
road_runner Thanks this. -
they actually help handle the road a little too, I notice a difference when I am pulling a newer trailer with the skirts compared to an older trailer.

up to 7% fuel saving with the skirts. trailer tails will add another 3-5% Small investment to save that much fuel. All van trailers should have um.

I love them. But down force on tires. Safety + Tires - Maybe 100 miles, I go with Safety!

I dont really see much increase in fuel but then again im always going different routes, hills mountains etc so I cant really compare.

I don't have the plans before me, I know a 123 mph truck travels at 2 miles a minute. When we can make 40 mph we will do ok. I never planned for a Woman to be with you. Get the Harley Davidson on your truck by yourself. I Don't see what Peter Built has to do with the Family Company. Way it goes/.

This the other one your talking about with the Mudflaps?

The ones with the bottom flaps are grain trailers; the flaps are the conveyor system that help even out the row when they are ground spreading griain in a feedlot.
The side skirts are used to flatten signs that might cut your trailer tires when you rookie a corner. They will also improve your fuel mileage at 82mph. In California.road_runner Thanks this. -
They're also useful for taking your pet rock for a walk!
