Of course it's going to go on his record. Only reason it's not on there now is because the case is still open. Personally I'd encourage him to find another line of work. I'd rather not have a guy who gets in a hurry and blows stop signs on the road. Going to be tough for him to find a job.

Sounds like he needs to get a good lawyer. Might check with OOIDA and see what info they would recommend. Also did he belong to any of the truckers legal services. I believe on just a ticket if you aren't a member, and use them to represent you, it would cost around $500.00, don't know what something this serious might cost. Don't leave it to chance.

Ahh.....Dont worry bout it young man....

I have a pretty funny story on a big Baffoon blunder I did..

I was Loading a live load at Golden Grain in Bridgeview,Il (Rice a Roni)

Its a dock that is INSIDE the building...very narrow Very dark inside on a sunny day.....

Anyway.....Im in the Sleeper while we are loading (I got my brother with me whom also had a CDL at the time) This is when the CDL became Mandatory over the Chaeuffers..

so Im in the Bunk..My brothers in the Drivers seat Foolin around..I hear the truck door close..I Wake up...

My brother went to the shipping clerk to get his Bills of Lading

I said "You know what..Im gonna kill 2 birds with 1 stone and Pull out and close the doors"

I jumped out of the sleeper... Didnt even put my contact lenses in....Threw on my Thick coke bottle Glasses..Started the truck and Pulled out from the Dock

Instead of closing the doors before I exited the building..I tried pulling out completely but............."CRUNCH".... I said "Ohhh Noooo" In a nervous frightened state only found on a child that was in big trouble!

I jumped out of the truck and walked back to the trailer doors...Im thinking"Please No damage, Please"

Nope.......Ripped the right door nearly right off the hinges........

So i said..."Maybe I can close the Door without nobody noticing........(Nowe keep in mind, my brother is still in the shipping office ,so he knows nothing yet)

i use all my brute force and get the door closed but it was bowed out a good 6 inches from the seals...after I latched it..I closed the other door and pulled out completely......

my Brother camew out and said right away... "What the heck" When he tried to put the Seal on it......... We both got our butts chewed out somethin else for that debotchery

I agree, don't let some minor traffic scuffs knock you out of trucking. We had one driver that damaged something every month. They just kept taking half his pay every 2 weeks.Eventually he either got tired of donating half his pay back to the company or became a careful driver. Last I seen he's still driving there.Long ago in Lincoln,Ne I had a bad day. Co called on radio said to go p/u backhaul of salvage batteries. Only one way into this place(as far as I could tell)had to turn on a curvy side street with cars parked on both sides of the street. Enough room to navigate around(was kinda in a hurry to get this bh picked up to make it back before running out of hours. There was 3 buildings off of this street, well I came around the last curve and could see where I needed to go.Small hotel with miniature parking lot (but it looked like a road behind it. It wasnt a road just a bulldozed up pile of debris. So now forced to turn around in front of this motel. Had to jack knife extemely sharp, sliding my tandems sideways across the parking lot, took out the cable line next door too. Before I attempted to turn around the shipper(some roughneck, hard boiled guy was nice enough to come over and belly yell at me. Said it would probably take me an hour to get turned around and asked who I was picking up for. I told him and somebody radioed backYour Load Has Been Cancelled. Wasnt offering to help me outta this jam . So I was so sweaty and frustrated by this time. I told him Good. Anyway I got it turned around, gave the hotel my company info and split. My cell phone had no coverage so calling the shipper on the way in was out any way. Moral of the story, take the extra time, stop, flashers on and get out and hike around 5 or 6 blocks BEFORE getting in a jam.I was very careful about trying to get in a place after this. Stuff happens,I'm still driving now and stuff happens still but rarely now. Plan ahead better thats all.Go with a trainer(sounds like it would help) and just find a new company willing to take you on.This stuff happens to all the drivers they just dont talk about it.

LOL That is some funny stuff! Why haven't I seen this post sooner?

Put your app in with the NYC DOT. You could be an "infrastructure tester". After an intersection or landscaping, etc. is finished, they could send you in with an OTR sized truck to "test" it. If you don't hit anything; they know it was designed right and is good to go. QA testing: PASSED by test driver.
