So my first top choice says there is a waiting list for driver trainers:biggrin_25521:..so I'm really unsure what company to go with as my next choice:biggrin_25512: I have us xpress, Stevens, I was considering prime but the driver training length and everything about them kind of turned me off to them especially the testing for sleep apnea. Can someone point me in the right direction....:biggrin_2551:

If you dont mind teaming go with us express, if you dont mind reefer go with stevens, if you dont mind slow trucks go with prime.
All the megas are gonna have close to the same issues. Your best bet is to find things that you like and pic which company has the most of those. For example equipment, benefits, home time, idle time, apu, cpm, average miles, what type of freight.

My top choice was J&R Schugel but they have a waiting list for driver trainers. They couldn't even give me an exact date to when things would free up. Not sure what that means but I graduate in 3 weeks and have my test date as well on the last week so this was a shock...

Does anyone else know other companies that hire students right out of school??
I'm looking for OTR ill have my hazmat endorsement as well as soon as I take my state test then go to the DMV.

Very good answer. All companies have BS. Just have to figure out who's BS you can put up with. Again who is your first choice? They might be worth waiting for. IMHO only one of those three I would consider is Stevens. But I am sure someone has so horror stories about them too.:biggrin_25510: Just saw your J&R response. Havent heard anything bad about them. You might find they have a waiting list also. The last time I trained was for swift and there were times when trainees had to wait for a trainer to free up too. Mostly for keeping you with a trainer that was out of the terminal that you would run out of when you completed your training. The reason for that was so you could get home when the trainer went home.

Not everyone gets tested for sleep apnea at Prime. Heck I am 5'11 and about 250lbs and thought I would get tested but they never said a word to me about. As far as training goes if you come in with a CDL just out of school you would have to do about 40,000 miles of training( about 2 months worth). I actually liked that part as a new driver because different things would come up during that time and I learned how to deal with those problems.

Thanks for the responses just got off the phone with Conway. Looks like I qualify and have a phone interview on Friday. Benefits are great pay isn't the worst and sounds like I might take them over J&R Schugel.
