Electric problem, help please.
I'm a local (intermodal) in Salt Lake. I hook like 10 or more cans a day and with some of them (APL chassis and Schneider Trailers) the lights almost don't work or they are very faint. I noticed that when I make the white wire get in contact with the metal parts, the lights works fine.
I realize it's a ground problem, but my question is How can I fix it for good?.

Pull out the plug and spread the metal apart w/a pocket knife. Each male part of the plug is actually split and they actually wear. Hope that fixes ya.

When I did drop and hook, I carried a spare pigtail, the female terminals in your pigtail also wear. I have spread the pins as well, but sometimes it is quicker to use a tarp strap to pull the whole plug up a little, putting a slight twist on the plug.

The other thing is that the spring in the cover of the receptacle on the trailer disengages so the cover doesn't hold the plug very well. The tarp strap is the best temp fix for that.
