As a person interested in getting a CDL, I'd like to hear from the pros what the most stressful parts of the job are. What bothers you the most about trucking and why?
Veterans, what stresses you out the most about trucking?

I loathe the service at almost any truck stop these days. You wait in line for EVERYTHING. They always seem to have about 5 staff behind the counter with only maybe 2 if you are lucky actually ringing people through. I do not want to spend any extra time at a truck stop - I want to conduct my business then leave. Because of this I now run it right to empty then buy 200+ gallons. Also, the general lack of respect between drivers is unreal these days. I have only been at it since 2007, and it seems to be going downhill faster and faster.
mje Thanks this. -
Been out of the biz for a couple years now...retired in 2011. But.....as I was getting ready to retire I noticed that the group of drivers coming on , not necessarily the younger guys , but as a group drivers had started to get away from being regular working folks....used to be you got in , drove your truck ,delivered your product, went and picked up another load , or went back to the terminal and went home...now it seems that drivers just no longer respect themselves, their bosses/dispatcher/or whatever they are called anymore , their equipment , road signs...used to be when a truck was broken down on the side of the road the CB came alive with "Hey, you need some help there hand?" or "driver you got help coming?" If you saw a truck on the side you moved over ...Waaaay before you got to him....just don't see that anymore....drivers used to blink hands over after passing them.....drivers used to respect each other..just not seeing that anymore. Don't know if it's generational, or that the newer guys parents didn't teach them anything...but 1 thing I'm glad of....I'm out of the rat -race now and just sitting back observing.....
