I'm brand new and just graduated.........

I've looked and thought and thought and looked, I'm going to start at Werner next week. I know enough that any company of size is going to have alot of disgruntled employees, I know I can stick out out for at least a year.

before I go on I'd like to thank the members of this forum, before I even graduated I was lurking here gleaning as much knowledge as I could. when I was in resident training with other stupidents I tried to warn them about SWIFT. we were out driving when the swift recruiter started his presentation I made some snide remark about swift to my instructor, he knew where I was coming from but he really couldn't bad mouth them himself.

all I want to do is get out there and work! coming out of being self-employed I need to get through the werner training program and get my own truck. I'm 45 years old and me and my wife want to get out and go.

yeah it'll be hard at first, rookie runs and bad trips. I promised my instructor to get at least one year under my belt and then start looking for a better company. thanks to this forum I have Crete in mind, they may not have a good rep down in Florida because of that horrible accident but you can't judge a company on one employee.

I know I have alot to learn, and I'm looking to you guys for words of wisdom. go ahead and lay all the advise on me at once, 'cause I'm outta here Sunday morning.

Crete will take you right out of school.
Why punish yourself with werner?

I went to work for Crete straight out of school and just got back from my first 3 of the 8 week training plan and have had a really good experience, my trainer has been driving for 21 years and has a lot of information to offer.

in my first 3 weeks I went from Utah to Texas to New York to Ohio, down to Florida for vacation because my trainer did his home time and Crete put me up in a motel for 3 days. Then back out to Pennsylvania then out to Colorado and home exactly when Crete said I would be.

While out I, as a newbie got no flack from other drivers but the drivers for Swift, Werner and J.B. Hunt really got a lot of crap for some of thier driving, I had the opportunity to work for all of them and am very glad I took Crete. But I have to say that everytime I heard a remark come over the CB the drivers deserved it, I was pulling in to fuel one time and a Schnieder driver cut me off and drove straight across the lot like he owned the place and the CB came to life and called him all kinds of names.

I go back out with a new trainer on Monday and I am sure now that he will be just as knowledgeable as my last one, you cannot be a trainer for Crete after only 6 months like a lot of companies give you.

Good luck in what ever you decide.

I'm willing, I filled out an online app 3 weeks ago. they haven't replied back.

the placement councilor at school told me they are kinda picky, and they do hire out of schools just not this one. I graduated from national training inc they are supposed to be nationally accredited, I wonder which schools Crete hires out of?

just for giggles I'm going to go fill out another app.

I gotta tell you that part of Werner gives me chills, they let rookie drivers be trainers. I'm for sure going to ask my trainer how long he's been driving!

I went to Sage Tech Drivers Training
Crete got a student from Sage.

All the rest of my classmates are sissy's they all want to be local they do not care about the poor pay I guess I even told them good luck getting a local company to hire you with no experince.

National is a kind of crap hole school that is why the one in colorado is not here anymore.
