Is It worth It???? okay, I know I said I was done asking questions but I have 1 more. Here's my situation. I work for goodyear doing measily oil changes and tire work. I have no desire to become a mechanic or to remain with the company. I make $10 an hour which leaves me taking home approx. $320 a week. I became interested in the trucking industry because It seems to be a good way to earn a descent living with out haveing to go through years of schooling. However, I am only interested if the compansation will be substantially more than what I am making now. I realize that there is no hourly comp. But have been told that the weekly take is somewhat higher. So my question is .......Is it worth it for me to join the industry? I would like to hear as many opinions as possible. But to make it easier on you.... let's keep it to a yes or no answer. Thanks again. Notch!

Notch that's truly a question only you can answer. Some weeks you will make way more than that and there could be some weeks that you won't even make that much. The first year it will be harder to make big bucks. Trucking is really what you make it. Do your homework, choose a company that is a good fit to your priorities, and with the right work ethic in place you will be able to make a decent living.

You didn't say if your married, in a relationship, or single - I know what does that matter? It does matter, I'm a truckers wife, I love him with everything, but it's not always easy either. I wish sometimes he was around more, but being an OTR is all he wants to be, so we support him. Also, if you have or are thinking about having kids, it will effect them too. Our kids (boys 5 & 2, girl 13) love their dad, and think he's a Superman, but he's missed alot. Think About it! If you have a women, make sure you talk to her....truckers wives are a special breed!!
