Hi Bandit, I am looking to get into the trucking business. Are you an O/O? I am looking at going out to Utah to take the CDL training at Central. Would you recommend them? I am from Ohio so this is a long haul for me. Is Covenant very good? I am looking for a christian trucking company and I see they are. Any comments?

Central wants to lease you a truck. Don't! Research Covenant. They IMO are one of the worst of the bottom feeders and are anything but Christian. Find the Christians in the individuals not the corporation.

Swift isn't a bad thing. They are a starter company. They have a terminal in Columbus.

Check into your local employment training branch of the unemployment office. My school was paid through the WIA. I owe no one.

Do lots of research on schools on this site. This site is a blessing. It has been very helpful.

    WELCOME!

I read somewhere that that even the most secluded of the native aborigines have a jar of vegimite. Produced by Kraft almost exclusively for the land down under. That's all you Aussie. I saw a jar once and it looked kinda rough bro

HAHA. ITS FLYIN-J ALL THE WAY! I ran otr for a little over 3 years, and snacked all day, then when i stopped for the evening, It was either a effin-j, petro, or ta all you can eat buffet. Get nice and full, then crawl in the bunk. I went from a fairly fit physique to losing alot of muscle mass and gaining 70# on top of it. I decided to come off the road. When i did, i dropped 80# in 3 months and started getting my muscle mass back.

I suggest eating healthy from the git go. I shopped at walmart alot. They are, for the most part, trucker friendly. Run in and grab a few days worth of goods. I used a propane grill for quite some time, but i got lazy towards the end.

    Happy trails.

I know I'm a bit late to the party, but I saw someone suggesting the Coleman coolers on the 1st page and just wanted to add a bit to it. I've owned 2 and my first one's fans went out after a few months, then the 2nd cooler's fans went out about the same time. Rather than spend another $100+ to get a new cooler I went to Best Buy and picked up two (2) computer fans and have had no problems for over 2 years now. The only drawback is the cover for the inside fan won't fit anymore. However, I'm able to keep more in my cooler now and it cools everything and a lot faster too. Plus, both fans have 3 speeds each on them.

    Here's a pic:

Oh and the LED lights help at night or when my curtain's drawn so I don't have to turn the lights on and kill my eyes.

Lights in the fridge are a great idea.

Salads... forget the bagged salad mix. It tastes awful, and goes bad in a couple of days. Get romaine hearts, fresh bunches of lettuce leaves or a head of iceburg lettuce - whatever you like. Take it out of any plastic bags that might be involved. Wrap the lettuce in paper towels, and put it in the fridge. Your lettuce will stay fresh and crisp for days like this!

Just a quick health note for those of us that have blood pressure issues. Check the salt content of some of the prepackaged meals and canned meals. They're usually very very high. Best thing for crock pots in my opinion is anything you like from the meat and produce sections of the supermarket. Stay away from the frozen and canned products ... loads of salt.
