No worries! i like that this one is in the Ladies room! If you get an inverter make sure you get a fuse installed so it will shut off if it overheats! We made damn sure of this with our first one...then we bought a new truck that already had an inverter on it...we never checked and the thing caught fire! My husband burnt his hands trying to break the conection..... Anyway, if you get one and have it installed properly it is a godsend! You can cook just as well a if you were at home! Also there are cooking pots (not sure of technical term) that plugs into cigarette lighter...just like a crock pot...takes a long time to cook, but if you throw something in before you start driving, in four hours you'll have a great meal!

Any good crock pot recipes???? I could not find much info on crock pot meals in any of the "cooking threads". My only source of cooking is my Wabasco heater and a cheap Wal-mart crock-pot. This will be my first trip out as a solo. My training is over, and I have brough my truck home to get it stocked with groceries,cooler,crock-pot etc... I leave out again in 2 days, and need advice on what makes good meals from a crock-pot. I have some zip-loc bags of hamburger meat already cooked that are in my freezer here at home. I will put them in my 12v cooler and add them to things such as a hamburger helper meal, dirty rice mix, wild rice mix etc... I have also thought of just heating some water in the crock-pot, and drop a couple cans of soup/raviolli/stew etc... in the hot water for 10-15 mins to get the contents in the can heated. I do not have an APU or are large inverter. All I have is a 400 watt inverter I can plug in to the 12v receptacle that I will use for my crock-pot. So the crock-pot is my only way to actually cook anything, other than placing a can in front of my wabasco heater vent. Anyone got any good ideas on making meals in a crock-pot, as well as any experience on meals that do not work very well in one?? Thanks from this newbie...

Anything you can dream up! Do your own little pot roast..throw in veggies, then potatoes, then a small roast (get one divide it into personal size servings) pour in a can of connsomme and aslt and pepper....mmm mmm good! Veggies can be precut and bagged into serving sizes also... Best idea though is to have all meals precooked before you go so you can dump in and warm up! Good luck! Be safe! Cheers! H

We used ours in the truck and i never had it turn over on me, but you might want to be careful if you make any real sharp turns. Some women may have some better advice for you than me but I spent 18 years in a truck. LOL!! So I didn't learn a lot. You will have to experiment with it but Pinto (soup) beans are good in a crock pot. You'll need bacon grease or bacon, or some oil, water and beans and salt. I put a couple inches of water and a chuck roast in there cook it on low or high until it's tender, till it falls apart or close to it. When it seems close to done you can toss in the potato chunks and carrots. A little garlic powder is good and some salt. Don't forget you can just use it to heat things in it, like beef stew, chilli, and thats a good idea about the hamburger helper, never done it, but it might work. QUESTION... Do you have anyone to cook for you. Like make you spaghetti, Chilli, MEat loaf, lasagna. IF so have them make it for you even while you're gone then have them freeze it zip lock baggies then you can heat most of it in the crock pot. Be sure and take wet ones, and things to eat out of, I even carried a small under the bed box to wash my dishes in. Also tuna, and treet, and spam and things like that are good. I'm not sure if you could get a small george forman to work on 400 watts or not. but they are great for grilled cheese, fried bologna and fried ham, we also used to have a small skillet that plugged right into the ciggy lighetr, and we fried eggs in it, and french toast. Jacks Girl Also check out the several threads on cooking on the road.
