Well beings that I haven't done any OTR driving but do have a crock pot at home... I'll throw my $.02 in on Crockpot meal ideas... Banquet makes some crock pot meal thingines that are everything ya need just open the bag and pour it in let it cook and good ta go... On the downside I don't member if they are a frozen product or dry shelf.. They have another product that is a meal in a box as well but that normally needs to be baked...

I use a low power frig. and microwave w/inverter.Haven't found much I can't do with those two.Even cooked my wife a steak dinner, complete with veggies and potato once.Turned out pretty darn well if I do say so myself. Also have a lunch box stove. But don't use it much anymore, since the microwave came along. And,I do still try to stop and have a
sit down (yet sometimes over priced and greasy) meal at a restaurant or truck stop once a week or so,just to get out of the truck for awhile. As for shopping,I usually get resealable meats, cheese, fruits and veggies(fresh and/or frozen),and some kind of snack cakes(just to satisfy my sweet tooth).and lately when I do still drink soda(Dewin the Dew),I have started buying 2 liters and refilling my drink cup.it's alot cheaper than buying the cases at the store or even worse the singles at the T/S.

My hubby drives OTR right now and we are working on doing it as a team...when I mentioned doing stuff like this when I was with him he thought I was a little crazy I think I didn't think all drivers out there ate out all the time. Makes alot of sense to cook yourself. Great thread!!

I found a "new to me" product the other day. Rice from Uncle Bens, it comes in a soft bag, it is already precooked. All you do is rip off the top, microwave for 90 seconds and eat. Taste was a little different, but it was ok. Cooked out real well so I will probably buy some again.

If you have an inverter, a crock pot is always a good way to go. I think they also make the small crock pots that plug into your cigarette lighter.
