You can tell if the egg is done by spinning it.

Hard boil eggs at the same time you are cooking rice! Prepare rice in rice cooker as usual, then wash the outside of your eggs (I wouldn't do more than 3 in a 3 cup batch of rice). Then lay the eggs on their sides in the middle of the rice in the cooker. Start the rice cooker, when the rice is done so is the hard boiled egg. Then you can use the egg for your meal or stick in the fridge for later use.

    Don't hard boiled eggs give monkey's gas:biggrin_2556:

I have not tried this in a truck but have used it at home and loved it.
It can cook just about anything fresh or frozen. I did try a whole frozen chicken once, they say it will work, that did not go well but if you just 1/4 it first it is fine. Everything else has turned out great. You can do a one inch steak to medium in 6 to 8 minutes per side and I think its likes 13 to 15 min. per if frozen. The web site shows the newer model it is basically a heating element on top of a glass bucket. The nice part is that it even can cook liquids. The older units just have a glass tray, a plastic "dome" and then the heating element. For use in a truck I would try putting a baking bag inside the container that should help alot with cleanup.
The disadvantages. They are fairly expensive but think about what you will save and watch Ebay, Craigslist etc. you can get alot better price. Also, as I already mentioned they area atleast part glass so they have some weight and are a little bigger than most cooking appliances that are geared specifically to a truck. but no bigger diameter than a small grill and you can do sooooo much more with it.

Got myself a little hotplate while down in Laredo a couple of weeks ago.

So far have cooked chicken & Rice casserole, Mac & Cheese casserole, eggs and roast beef hash for breakfast, french toast, pancakes...

The only hassle so far has been trying to gt the dishes cleaned afterwards - but I'm saving money by not relying on restaurants/fastfood for sustenance. :biggrin_25525:

I wipe my didshes out w/paper towel then I have a spray bottle w/ white vinegar water in it that I spray on the dish one at a time and wipe them clean. I talked to a nurse and she saiud it was an excellent ay to kil the germs and clean the dishes......when its warm weather I have a dishpan that I take outside and go to the fuel island and get water and wash my dishes out on the back of the trailer.....

I've been wiping the plates and silverware with papertowel and then I get the water based wipes at Sam's Club, adding 1 T of bleach to the pack and that is my disinfectant wipes - much cheaper than the premade ones. We use the lunchbox ovens and I have a glass loaf pan I use when cooking rice or chili (glass is easier to clean than metal) and I use plain tinfoil to line the bottom for potatoes, veggies and sausages. I stopped using the tinfoil load pans, they cost too much and get pin holes in them.

The trick to clean plates and silverware is to wipe them right away while warm and moist. Waiting until dried....yuck to clean.

No don't use that coleman stove pain in the ### Little by little get you a burton stove, then buy other nifty little cooking devices that you will use for the truck. I have a burton Stove and a Slow cooker. Works wonders cook as you go. Also have coffee and saucepan fora quick warm ups. Good Luck:biggrin_25525:
