The Rand McNally Atlas does not pinpoint which Walmarts allow truck parking but if you have the Rand McNally truck GPS all you have to do is go to points of interest then push whether you want near truck or along route or at destination which ever one you would like you push then you push other interests and then push shopping and spell out Walmart and it actually will let you know what Walmarts allow truck parking

 

The fact that you're replying to a five year old message aside, "which Walmarts allow truck parking" changes on a daily basis. For the most part, you can thank the drivers who leave refilled bottles laying in the parking lot.

I'm a driver... I know that sometimes you just gotta go. But please, empty the bottle and then throw the empty bottle in the trash!

 

Either empty the bottle in the grass not on the parking lots thats the reason that after it rain's and it's humid outside the truckstops smells like piss because driver's not just men driver's but women also are to #### lazy to walk to the grass and empty their bottles they will either go behind truck cab and empty by tires or I've also have seen both sexes just roll window down or open door and empty bottles at their step's hello how stupid when they get out they gonna step in it then track it into the truck. Anyways take bottle to the grass and empty them and throw them away or if you have a trash bag almost full throw it in the trash bag and take it to the dumpster not thrown out onto the ground or in trash can just in case bottle explodes in the heat there won't be any chance the worker who empty trash cans will get it on him or her if the bag is leaking also while we are on the topic of nasty driver's who are pig's and yes there are emergencies when nature calls and you may have the run's and you can't make it to the toilet and you have to crap in a trash bag don't just throw it on the ground be a man or woman and take it to the dumpster also. I have been out here 45 years and I have seen driver's just throw bag's with crap out their windows or doors just like they do their piss bottles or I have also seen men and women yes both sexes get out late nights early mornings because they are to #### lazy but they will go outside their trailer or behind it and take a dump on the pavement all I ask is be courteous to your fellow driver's and fellow peer's and ask your self how would you feel if someone's else's waste would get on you how would you feel? So don't be lazy and take one more minute and get rid of your waste and trash properly and dispose of it in the dumpster thanks and be safe and May God bless you and your family

How bout back to the food?

My tools: small crockpot, small electric skillet, microwave, and coffee pot, charcoal grill, fridge/freezer.

I make killer fajitas, pork loin and potatoes, stir fry, turkey bacon/spinach/mushroom/egg white breakfast burritos, chili (white or red), blackened fish, steaks, chops, chicken n dumplings, biscuits and gravy, you name it.

You can use those little fabric covered bungees to keep the lid on the crockpot, and put some screw eyes in and bungee it into a corner so it doesn't tip. Buy a small microwave rice steamer- doubles as a bowl. Make bread and biscuits in the crockpot overnight. Crockpot bags make cleanup a snap. Don't forget folding chairs for bbq-in outside.

Always buy some non perishable food in case you get stranded and keep it stocked. Cans and just add water kinda stuff. Quick stuff like oatmeal n coffee only takes a few minutes, throw in an apple or banana and you have a good breakfast. Toast buttered bread or biscuits on the skillet. When it is cold grab some canned soup and make a grilled cheese for lunch. Stock lots of water, dry seasoning mixes, and citrus juice (like the little plastic lemons or limes filled with juice).

You really can eat every bit as good as you can at home. I feed both of us like kings for about $50 a week. And other drivers look at us like we're nuts when we actually take time to park and eat supper together. Especially when we bbq right outside the doghouse, tie the mutt to the bumper and eat steaks and baked potatoes in the parking lot. LOL.

Embrace the life, guys. Just because we live in a box doesn't mean it can't be a great box.

When I finish a shift driving I'm hungry on purpose, reducing my snacks to stay alert. After finishing my post trip inspection I can't wait to kick back, make my dinner, and enjoy my "man cave". You're right, it's a great box.

 

Glad I found this. What microwave does everyone have? Hubby has a 1200 inverter and we need to buy a microwave for him.

 

I bought the smallest one I could find, a Rival 700 watt that I bought at Wal-Mart. Thing you have to watch is the "peak draw". You should be fine with a 700w, mine has a peak of 1100w.

Heating appliances aka skillets, coffee pot, toaster oven, etc. Have high "peak draw" numbers. That number should be lower than your inverter peak number.

My hubby & I are brand new to trucking. We leave Nov 22nd to start our school & I've been obsorbing as much info as I can, which is a lot!! I just picked up on this thread because we want to avoid eating at truck stops as much as possible. I've gotten some great from this thread but I've not heard of "peak draw". Again, I am VERY new...Can explain that to me? Thank you.

 

I have an Oster single burner I picked up at Walmart for $20 six months ago and it works every time. You don't need anything expensive.
