Pretty easy. You go to the TSA near a port apply, get fingerprinted, and wait for your background check/ threat analysis to come back. If you meet the criteria then you are good to go, it's really the same process as Hazmat. Check out the TSA website, it has everything you need to know. www.tsa.gov

Yea real ez. Got mine in 12 days. Unless they find stuff on u. Than they will come knocking on ur door, with the Swat team, and Seal team 6
-
If you have a hazmat endorsement the fee is reduced too ($105.25 vs. $129.75) plus it helps speed things along since they have already "researched" you for the Hazmat.

https://universalenroll.dhs.gov or call 877-429-7746... btw Texas residents can contact Morpho 888-467-2080. -
I had a hard time just getting to a ues office, had to get a plan delivering near one then stop. Now I have to wait until its ready and get routed back to the office to pick it up. It has been a pain in the ###. But the actual application process is easy.

Also, I heard the Twic program is going to be abandoned because it's not cost effective. Does anyone know if that's true? -
@10thMountain: I enrolled in the TWIC yesterday (fingerprints & pictures) so I will post how long it takes for my TWIC card to be available for pickup.
Compared to the FUBAR nightmare process of getting my Port Authority of NY & NJ (PANYNJ) credentials so I can work at JFK Airport I have to say the TWIC & Hazmat procedures have been a breeze. I was hired in mid-September by my company, Triangle Services, to drive (Class A) heavy inter-line freight and freight to customs warehouses. I took the PANYNJ Secure Identification Display Area (SIDA) class within a week of hire, then I had to wait for two weeks to get an appointment to have my fingerprints taken by the PANYNJ. My first appointment 31OCT2013 got cancelled for no reason by the PANYNJ. Then my second appointment on 12NOV2013 got cancelled again for no reason by the PANYNJ. I finally had my fingerprints and picture taken on15NOV2013 supposedly after someone in my company stirred up a s#1t storm. Now I am waiting for the PANYNJ to schedule a date for their Aircraft Operations Area (AOA) driving class and for, as you can guess, the PANYNJ to turn my fingerprints over to the TSA for a background check. You can't make this stuff up! At this rate I may be lucky to hit the tarmac by Christmas or maybe New Years. I am keeping my fingers crossed.
I understand the need for all the security and the government shutdown and Navy yard shooting incident has only slowed down the vetting processes but all of these agencies need to get their coordination up to speed. -
I also heard the will eliminate it soon.
