I found out PAM doesn't allow pets. I've had this Dog for 8 years now. If I sneak around and bring the Dog w/me will I get fired if i'm caught? I don't see what the BIG deal is anyway and I would not have a problem paying a pet deposit.
Yes you will get fired. The bigdeal is that a truck costs over $100k and a dog destroys a truck. I accidentlly bought a truck that a dog lived in.... never make that mistake again.

biggest prob with phone as mdem is that the "unlimited" plan is not really unlimited. It is meant as a txt plan. sprint actually told me they have people who watch the bandwidth and if you tart downloading big fils like video or anything they will start charging you by the bit. Plus the phone as modem will not connect once yo are off the network. so if you are roaming o on analog you can not get on. My verizion air card gets me on everywhere. only thing is that the speed will vary depending on which network you are on. basicly it goes from real fast in the city, down to twice dialup speed in the boonies.

gobs of companies allow drivers to have pets - most require a deposit. i'd sure as hell think twice before giving up a longtime good friend for a trucking company - which statistics indicate will be in your life less than a year.

definitely the air card is the way to go. i doubt if the phone battery would last long enough to download 1 song. and you'd have a better chance of going to hollywood and making your own movies than getting one downloaded with a modem.

I concur with all you said about the air card vs. the modem.

However, we part company on the pet issue. I have two weiners who travel with me, and I assure you my truck is cleaner and in far better shape than some I've gotten from drivers with no pets. (Frankly, a couple were so nasty, I suspected they were raising raccons.)

Responsible pet owners will not allow their pals to trash a truck - there's no reason for it. Bottom line - it has far more to do with the two-legged animal than the four-legged one.

I'm not anti pet. I have more animals than I car to take the time to type out. I am anti pet in a truck though. I never could quite get the smell out of that truck. Now I don't smoke anymore so I can actually smell things now. Pls I had nothing but electrical gremlins in the dash of that truck an when I opend up the dash I literally had to pull out bags full of dog hair. I still say it had something to do with the problems anthough I can't prove it. By looking at the truck you wouldn't know it had dogs in it but once you started digging around you figured it out fast.

I saw a guy with a big ol parot loose in his truck a few months back. It was in a rest area and the bird was walking across the dash. now THAT is disgusting. I have two small birds and I know what a mes they make. I can't even imagine what that truck looked like inside

The internal memo that was posted about sprint is, until you hit 500mb's a month using pam they wont say anything. Once you do they will call you and ask for you to get a pam add on.

And here was the pet I kept, until he met a tragic end.

humm.. interesting... I am assuming that "pam" is phone as modem... and i am WELL PAST the 500mb limit i hit a gig because i have carbonite running in the background and i play a little secondlife and surf the web and junk....

now i have the phone as modem plan on my accound for $39.99 a month thats for unlimited data, and i havent had a problem yet i would get a sprint card but they wont raise my credit limit with sprint to add a 3rd line of service and the phone as modem is still cheaper by 10 or 20 bucks a month...

but i've only had it for 1 1/2 months because soon as my wife goes home for 1 month she takes the laptop with her and im stuck until the following month when she gets back on and brings the laptop..... i really need a second computer

I tried out sprint before veriion but there service was horrible. Once you get off the interstate there is nothing and there internet won't work on other networks. I couldn't even get service at my house.
The $39 phone as modem will get you alot more data than just the unlimited txt plan. But like I said in a truck, the service stinks. The phone will go to other netwoks for you to talk but as a modem it will not. (neither will verizions phone as modem but there air card does, not sure about the sprint air card)

So, We can surf the Net from the Pam Computer? I thought IT only accessed Email from PAm and Maps etc... thought we needed our own personal laptop to surf everything else.

How would PAM know I had a Dog? Do they do random checks etc?

AND what does anyone suggest for a satellite?

I hear that alot of the Trucks get broken into by scumbags, so what is a decent security system?

Thanks everybody.....
