Please do not post if it is negative!!

I am a woman with past felony convictions (class D theft, theft receiving) that overcame her addiction in 2005 however, the convictions don't go away that easy (I was released from parole in 2008. I'm ok with it as my past does not define who I am...it helped to make me the beautiful woman I am today...changed my life, wen't to college, got published as a writer for Chicken Soup for the Soul, did an internship with CEi in Chattanooga which helps find people with pasts like me jobs.

    Telling you all this because
    .....

I would like to drive teams with my future husband. He will be going to Chattanooga State in March to obtain his CDL's, he doesn't have a past like mine, and we are looking for forgiving companies that may give me a chance at running teams with him. Any positive, or sincere, advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

US Express is right there in Chattanooga.

Felonies are usually on a case by case basis.

Its not drug or DUI , those are the bad ones.

I drive team with the wife, but the company won't take you without at least 6 months.

    Sincerely, positively, Blair.

There are numerous threads on this forum to help you with your situation, first thing I recommend is putting felon trucking, felon, or frac that hire felons, in the search browser on this site. Second just from reading on this sight, I know that Western Express, Werner, Trans Am, Carolina Cargo, are all second chance companies.

I'm not gonna lie and tell you I know these companies policies, as far as how old the felony needs to be, but these companies might be able to help you. Congrats on getting past your addiction and wish you and yours the best. Also small trucking oufits, whom aren't as strict might take you on. But also keep in mind most companies, want the felon to be at least 10 years old, good luck!!

All though it may be difficult but not impossible. U need to aim at companies that do nothing but teams like crst, etc. As far as yo felonies there are companies that will take u and look for those that say 5 years will consider. Have u thought. About getting your record sealed so u want have a dilemma. Thendrivers are a special and unappreciated breed. Im sorry to say u may get an occasional crack at u. But majority sincere responses. How many companies have u called. U might be surprised if u actually checked.

The only issue would be cross border transits. Normally a felony conviction would exclude crossing the border.

Not wanting to piss on the parade but the issue is you are asking an owner to trust a convicted thief with a $100Ks of freight. Yeah, that's harsh but facts are facts and insurance companies love facts. In todays world it is the insurance companies that have the last say in who gets hired. Maybe hubby should become an O/O which will simplify things. Good Luck.

a friend of mine had a felony and quite a few other charges. they were all for theft and over 7 years some companies require 7 years or older other require 10. congratulations on your recovery. Don't give up it will be difficult you may not get the best paying jobs but I think someone will hire you

Every company is different... But saying it was for Theft thats gonna make it harder. Some companys are not gonna touch you with a 2mile pole.. And you got to think of it this way. Hmm can we trust this person with a load of New Laptops worth about 2million... This is what they will look at. Yes people do change and get on the right track but you got to look at there reason for not hiring too. I hope you find your 2nd chance that you are looking for..

I have 2 similar felonies. Granted, mine are 23 years-old, but I've pulled million dollar Freight Watch pharmaceutical loads and half million dollar meat loads.

To the OP, many companies have driver qualifications on their websites. Just start picking companies in the "Good trucking companies" thread and start hitting their websites.
