I doubt it. newbie hit stuff. it's why only the big training companies hire them. plus it sounds to me like they told him to leave without reporting it and just hope nobody saw it. kinda underhanded actually. I hope he has that conversation recorded on the quailcom.

It was a mailbox, hopefully he'll use it as a learning experience and just be more careful next time.

Just tell him to be careful of those mailboxes jumping out in back of him. ![]() I'm sure he won't be fired. Now if it becomes a habit they may let him go.

Leannamarie. Almost ALL the information/advice given you is WRONG. He has had an ACCIDENT. HE CAN BE FIRED. It was considered as *Hit & Run*. Dispatchers don't care, they will tell him to move on. He needed to call the Safety Dept. There is HARM & FOUL. I can pretty much believe that someone DID witness the accident, and will report him. He needs to contact Safety right away. He may be fired, he may not. Yes, it was *just a mailbox*, but now the person who owns it has to make repairs *out of pocket*. The cost of the mailbox and pole may not be much, but its you boyfriends livelyhood now we are speaking about. What's to say he hits something else again, is he going to *run a way again*? If his dispatcher told him to move on, the dispatcher took the responsibility, and later they will deny this ever happened. It would have been the Safety Dept Official that tells him to move on, not dispatch, plus he would have had to take several photos of the accident, as per Safety Dept Rules. And if no one really seen anything, who's to say that camera's watching the parking lot aren't being used? Can you say *Smile, You're On Candid Camera*? He won't be able to defend himself against a video camera. AND I can also guarantee you that there WILL BE MARKS on the tires.

Updated, This may NOT be the wrong advice, but to say *I doubt it* isn't realistic either. Something said like, *It's a possibility that it might happen, but probably not, from what I think*

| I'm sorry but I tried to *multi-quote* but I think I did it wrong, so I had to quote this way instead, each person's response.

I don't think any of us are saying it shouldn't be reported to safety or that his dispatch handled it wrong - I personnally think she is really worried about him (just as any spouse would be), I just don't want her to worry herself sick over it - there will be bigger things in the future, her boyfriend needs to "LEARN" how to handle these things, and she needs to "LEARN" how to handle them. If coming here comforters here, then that's a good thing, if she worries more - it's bad. Yes, your right about it needing to be reported to safety - but I think you should have explained to her why and how instead of just saying we're wrong - I guess one of us should have stated that, I just got the feeling she was probably up worried about this all night and needs to relax alittle. I was coming from a "truckers wife" thinking - we don't always think of the BIG picture, we think of our husbands and our families first.
