What are your thoughts on listening to a book while driving a truck? Good idea? Bad idea? Distraction? Or Keep you focused on the road ahead?

Done it since 2003. Not distracted yet. I do not change disk in a busy area. I converted them to mp3 and did them to a walkman.

Yes, I use them occasionally in far flung places where radio receptions is sketchy or the brand of radio is not what I prefer.

It depends on the driver, as one member posted in another thread he is distracted very easily, so he is unable to, while others are able to multi task .... do what makes YOU a safe driver.

I like listening to audio books when I'm out. The radio gets insipid after a while. I have audiobooks loaded on my iPod. I just aux jack into the radio, press play and go. If you're teaming, I wouldn't run it over the speakers because your teammate might want to sleep.

    LOVE them :)

I turn them off when in heavy traffic, bad weather or hitting a weight station... But they sure do make the miles roll easier!

    LOVE EM!

Well, loved them since I'm no longer OTR. But when I was, I was buying more audio books off audible than I had a right to. I've always wanted to read all of Tom Clancys work, but never truly got the chance to sit down and enjoy them until I got them on audio book.

I could listen to red storm rising 3 or 4 times before I got bored with it, and put it on the shelf for a month or so.

Seriously guys, get red storm rising. Lol.
