Not new to trucking but new to OTR trucking... Last night I was laying down in the bunk of a truck for a part time gig I got and it got me thinking..what do you guys all do on your 10 hour reset?

I'll be going from tri axle dump truck to Regional long haul in the next week and it got me curious on how to spend my time on my reset.

I know come summer time I'll enjoy tinkering on the truck and doing a little bit of maintenance while I got nothing better to do, but what about the winter?

I plan on buying an inverter and bringing my laptop to go online and watch movies but that will get old pretty quick. Just a Monday to Friday gig so no time will be spent in truck stops on reset other then my 10 hour.

    Thanks!

You have 14 hours of work time a day with 11 hours of drive time. I realize that you won't have any say in how long you wait at shipper etc. Every day when I shut down for the day I uh well do business, shower, eat. If necessary get a little grub for truck and hit the bed. Tomorrow is another 14 hour day.

Unless you have here today gone tomorrow paper logs. I hope you are getting decent sleep. I come on TTR make a few people mad. Like a few post on facebook, then hit the sack. If I have to I'll wash my clothes. I haven't had a tv in my truck for years and I do all 48 and stay out 4 or 5 weeks. I use to have the playstation and tv in the truck, but that made spend to much time on Grand theft Auto and not enough time counting sheep. I do believe I handed over my LIFE with the 40 dollars cash to the Texas Department of Public Safety and they gave me a CDL. They said Kiss your life and your cash goodbye. 14 years later I still don't have either one.

^^haha so true. I will only be spending a night or two in the truck and rest of the week will be at home so things like washing clothes I shouldn't have an issue with. I would like to get a minimum of 8 hours of sleep though.

Just looking for ideas other then a shower and bite to eat to pass some time that's all

Well I finish up my log for the day and then fill tomorrows info out .
Then I go take a shower and cook some supper.
Then I go to bed since I am a old man and I need my rest so I can do another 6-700 mile day tomorrow.

That is how my 180 days a year go that I am out on the truck give or take 20 or 30 days .

do my log up, finish out the company trip report for the day.

    call the wife.

raid the 12V cooler for dinner. (bought with Wilco points).

grab my book (from the local used book store), and put my feet up for awhile.

then last and most important sleep!

used to have sat. tv and all the elec stuff, but not anymore.

it's good for a reset, but,I'm regional and home weekends now.
