my first nine days of working at werner in nine days I have driven about 2600 miles and logged almost 58 hours of line three. my impressions so far; 1. I'm lucky to have a trainer with almost two years experience. 2. I'm also lucky that although he works a dollar general dedicated account he likes to stay out as much as possible so his student get their hours done. ( he volunteers to work weekends ) 3. the qualcom we have in our truck works very intermittently, sometimes I have to wait 15 minutes for messages to send. 4. driving is getting easier, driving in and around these losers in cars sucks! I had one woman in a SUV pass me swerve into my lane 30' from my bumper and then hit her brakes HARD! at 65 MPH. my butt was puckering big time. 5 the paperless log thing is good and bad, your legal but you also log alot of time that I think should be line 4 ( unloading, fueling ) as line 1. I can tell my time here is limited, they don't pay enough to keep good drivers. I'm still accident free, as long as I keep my following distance, G.O.A.L, and drive defensively I'll stay that way. does anyone know how much Crete pays new recruits with 6 months experience?

AlottoLearn, unless you want to run out of hours b4 your work week is over, you HAVE to log loading/unloading on lines 1/2 (fueling should always be logged as line 4 ). And, one more little piece of advice, stay put for a year, if you possibly can, rather than start job hopping at 6 mos.

hey alottolearn, i was with werner on their dollar general account for 6 months and total 8 months with werner. i had a good experience with werner except that their pay is much lower than other companies. just wanted to let you know i just started with crete at .40 mile on their national account which i consider a great pay raise, so far its been a very positive experience. good luck to you.

I don't want to play the "huntin' for a good company" game. alot people on here say Crete is a great company and if they'll have me I'll work for them until I retire. sounds like they treat their drivers with honesty and respect in return they would get my respect and loyalty. thanks for the responses
