I recently aquired my CDL permit and tried to get training through several trucking companies. I have found out that most companies you can only have so many in a lifetime. 2 or 3 at the most. I have 5. Now i admit i was an extremely bad alcoholic and made some bad choices. I went to a court appointed rehab and have since been sober for 11 years. My knees went bad from construction in 2011 and have had 3 surgeries. I chose to go to trucking as an alternative career. What i guess i want to ask is it even possible to find companies thatll hire me with my background? I have a clean driving record since 2003.

    mje and Skydivedavec Thank this.

market8687 I wish this was a fishing post to see how many people would "FLAME" You or in lay-mans terms fire at some statement that says basically "Good Luck" but looking at what you have here, the length of time you have been on the forum and so forth I think this is a real question and inquiry, I hate to tell you this, go learn computers and become a Tech! this industry isn't going to over look that many, it sounds habitual and this industry doesn't like that type of behavior, I wish you luck in your process but 5 DUI's Doesn't look good around these parts. Sorry, I pledged to Tell nothing but the Truth!

He's been clean 11 years now...

how much longer should he have to prove himself to you?

i'd hire a guy with a clean Bill like that.....he has proven he can overcome adversity..And alcohol (Which I LOVE:biggrin_25523:) can get hard to overcome for an alcoholic

Just because You guys are scared to touch alcohol and act like its a illegal act or something...Doesn't mean others have to adhere to your mindset

Thats what i thought when i went to a company for training. I put on the app. only for the last 10 years. i guess the insurance company ran my full record and found them. They sent me packing. Should i disclose them and hope?

Due to the strong likelyhood of becoming a truck driver I have doing a lot reading/research on forums, on employers websites and job openings. There are a fair number of employers requiring a lifetime MVR upon application, this might imply that others may be doing background to such an extent as well.
