after 2 weeks of waiting for my background check, i called R.E. WEST back today and they told me that human resources had decided to pass on my application at this time. i have a good work history, no moving violations in over 3 years, and never had an accident, drug charge, dui, or anything. have never been in trouble. they wont even give me a reason for not hiring me. i exceeded all of their requirements. can anyone think of anything else that might be wrong that im not aware of? just curious. im not letting this get me down though. i will stay up all night putting in applications if i have to. i have put in 4 more so far. i wont give up until i get results.
was turned down for a job. dont know why. cant figure it out, any advice?

Your sig says WannaBe. If that's true, there would be more qualified applicants most likely.
-
yea i am a wannabe but they did tell me that they were interested in getting me started. who really knows what changed their mind?
Chinatown Thanks this. -
R.E. West is not that difficult to qualify for.
Are you sure nothing iffy shows on your past employment records ?
Also, I've seen quite a few INCORRECT background checks.
If you have a common name, it may not be your background record, this does happen.
I'd do some investigating, if I was you, it may be an easy fix.
Most companies will NOT give the reason they didn't hire you.
Good Luckbubbaray30 Thanks this. -
Keep trying, there's many companies that will hire you.
Paschall Truck Lines and Western Express will probably hire you.bubbaray30 Thanks this. -
Is that a cdl-mill company?
*check your MVR yourself, just because you didn't do anything to have a violation doesn't mean something isn't their on accident.
*If it's a school check your credit, same reason as above.
* make sure all of your former employers are actually giving "good" review's.
I once went to cash a check on base and the girl did a pause... then said "oh, the ssi is one number off" ( for bad checks), curious I asked, she said last number was 1 instead of 2 like mine... Ummm really? That was my 15 y/o brothers ssi, who had never been on any base. The name...very very close to mine. Sorta like ... Stacy instead of Kasey.
Try again at another place, but double check everything before you do. Company doesn't have to say why they wouldn't hire you.bubbaray30 Thanks this. -
i just got a call from pti. they say for me to do a refresher course and they will hire me. seems like they all want it. the cheapest one i have found is $1000. are there any cheaper ones that i dont know about? i am getting tax return soon and will do what i gotta do. i am just exploring my options. i have also applied for ozark and western express and others. they should be calling me shortly. i already asked pti about if i do a refresher and out myself $1000 will they actually hire me? they said that they were 100 percent sure that there would be no problems. lets hope that they are not lying . thats a lot of money to spend for a poor man. lets hope that there is nothing on my criminal record or mvr. i was a security officer and my last background check consisted of fingerprints and went through the TBI and FBI. and they also checked my mvr. everything was clean. i havent been in trouble in that time either. but i am going to investigate this myself. i also recall that i got pulled over one night and almost went to jail because of warrants in Arkansas. i explained that i hadnt been there since i was 8 years old. then come to find out , the middle name was different. he turned me loose. that may also be the case here.

Western Express and PTL both have refresher courses. Unless something has changed recently, the refresher with both companies is free if you agree to stay 12 months. Schneider also has refresher, but don't know the time limit on it. Swift and Averitt both have refresher. Millis Transfer is good for CDL school, but you need $500.00
Millis Transfer is real good and the average pay is $50K per year. Apply as a student trainee.
CRST is free but you must agree to stay 8 months and run teams. I understand they have lots of flatbed freight running up I-75/I-65 and some dedicated with Caterpillar or John Deere.bubbaray30 Thanks this. -
I am not sure if i am reading this right, but it looks like they only have 120 power units --i know it sounds impossible for a trucking company to have enough drivers -but maybe you just applied at the wrong time?

just continue doing exactly what you are doing and let this experience light that ol' fire for you.besides, those r.e. west trucks are ugly and slower than most. do you really want to drive a truck that is both ugly and slow? heck, the last r.e. west trucks that i recall seeing did not even have external sun visors on them.I am thinking that they were also "equipped" w/super singles so they aren't even 18 wheelers.you earned your cdl to drive an 18 wheeler.bubbaray30 Thanks this.
