Recently decided to rejoin the industry.
Class A with all endorsements. (Waiting on Hazmat verification)
Haven't driven in almost ten years.
Interested in what companies would hire.
    Located in Madison, Wisconsin.
My old driving school doesn't offer refresher courses.

Super Service has a program specifically for guys like you (and me when I started with them). They have a main terminal in Grand Rapids. You go through the paperwork, drug test (DOT and hair follicle that goes back a whole year - you can pass the DOT 30 day pee test but fail the 1 year hair test and they still won't hire you), HPE (DOT physical with a Human Performance Evaluation - basically a bunch of tests designed to see if you are physically able to do the job, sort of simulate the tasks; pull a weighted sled (like you're pulling a pallet jack), squat and walk under something squatted (like you're checking the underside of a trailer), take a weight in each hand and spin them in circles in front of you (like you're spinning landing gear), step up 3 steps on a ladder a bunch of times (like you're climbing in and out the truck) no biggie), then a road test. Do great and they'll put you straight in a truck, do OK (rusty) and they'll put you with a trainer for two weeks, act like a rookie straight out of school and they'll put you with a trainer for five weeks. Drive like you should have your CDL revoked for being a menace (aggressive driving, that sort of thing) and they'll probably not hire you.

Training pay is $75/day for every day you are away from home, even if you are in a motel while your trainer is on hometime. $525/week. When you pass the after training road test they will give you credit on the experience level for CPM for every single year you ever drove. You did ten years, took a ten year break, got back in, finished your two weeks refresher training (they pay you $525 a week to do BTW and they don't charge you a penny for it) and when you pass the upgrade test you will start your pay as a ten year experienced driver, and you'll get a $3,500 sign on bonus (paid in installments - but still!). I love these guys. I've been with the megas and the Mom and Pops and everything in between in the last 16 years and this is the very FIRST company I have actively endorsed. It has been mentioned that my posts are long and I'm working on my brevity so I'll give you a full run down on these guys in a PM if you want but I can't stress enough how happy I am here.

BTW; I'm an OTR driver, not a recruiter. I live the real deal every day and I shoot straight. Matter of fact, I got my cell phone tethered to my laptop for internet and I'm sitting in my truck in the bullpen at Meijer's DC in Lansing killing time until tomorrow AM when my unload appt is for. I got here early because of the storm. I know that sounds crazy, but I was tracking it and ran my trip so I could daylight drive through all the snow that hit all the way from my pick up in PA to here (US224 was a MESS all the way from Lodi, OH to Findlay), but it put me here about 13 hours early. The company was tracking it too and gave everybody way more time than we needed. Most places will take you early, Meijer's won't but I'm cool with taking my break in their bull pen and knowing I got here without incident.

There I go rambling again. PM me and I'll tell you all about SS. Even if you don't PM me, give them a call. Can't hurt to listen. Just Google them for their website. I don't keep their number handy except in my phone - which is currently tethered so I can have internet on my laptop. It ain't smart enough to let me have internet AND access to my contacts. Truthfully it probably is but I'm just not smart enough to make it do it. I JUST figured out I could use it to hook my laptop up to the internet. LOL.

If you want to get back in the game after a gap - SS is the way to go. Seriously.

Don't know why you can't send PM's; even free I think you can but WTH: You asked so I get to tell.

What are you interested in knowing about the most? I just deleted a Doctoral Dissertation because I'm trying to get it that this isn't my personal place to write my version of War and Peace about something. But if you can narrow down what you're interested in knowing about; I'll gladly respond.

PPLP, Too funny. That (pole) Cat cracked me UP when I was a teenager. I guess I totally got where he was coming from. Gonna have to Bing some Y2B vids now. LOL.

BTW, any idea how I can make MY avi appear under my screen name in a post? Like yours does.

    Never mind.
Have an almost 20 year old misdemeanor drug charge.
Any other companies that will take on a new old driver?

Looking at Western or whoever has adds in every single city in America.

A 20 year old misdemeanor drug charge that did not have anything to do with a commercial license should not be a problem. If the drugs were any good, I am surprised you even remember it.

For Super Service it states zero drug convictions.
