What to do now? where to go?

Well, I just graduated truck driving school and have my Class A CDL. I have applied with some major carriers and no luck. Apparently I slipped in to school with a negative mark on my driving record. At this point I need to start driving because I want to put my CDL and myself into action. Is there anyone that will hire me? Can anyone help me out with some advice or info?

What kind of a black mark do you have on your record?

Did you go to a good school?

What kind of a job are you looking for?

I did a search and here is what saulhndz posted
Sure...
Infraction on possesion for marijuana from 04/05.
Not a misdemeanor nor a felony. In the state of California less than an ounce of possession of marijuana gets a citation and a fine with no jail or probation for a first offense.

hey saulhndz

I would say the problem is that you got popped with drugs it does not matter if it was a misdemeanor, or felony only the fact that you were popped with those drugs.

I would figure as long as you stayed clean and passed the drug tests you should be able to get on somewhere. I would be expacting more "random" tests than normal, but after awhile you'll be left alone. My old company fired a guy for popping a drug test on meth and hired him back less than a year later. So you should be in good shape.

try this

you could try to sign on with employment agency for drivers. they pay by the hour and you get a good feel for percentage or hourly paying jobs local in your area

6 Months Later

I did find an employer, and promptly!!! I searched the mini mags from the truck stops. It took some calls and some persisitence and Eureka! They didnt sweat me at all and havnt tested me since orientation. But I did get turned down by all major companies and most smaller. I am with a flatbed outfit and it has been working out good. And by all means I will make sure I dont get another one of these marks on me.

The school where you obtained your CDL should have to help with job placement, or refund the fees you paid them. If nothing else you might find a job with O/O's who book there their own loads. Everyone is intitled to a second chance, but no one should be given the third. Good Luck
