I live in Tennessee and just went to the DOT website and there was a downloadable form of the CDL test booklet with all the info to study for the test. I'm about 1/4 the way through and so far its about your pre-trip inspection (everything to check and what you're looking for) and I'm into the section on safe driving (downshifting and accident avoidance stuff) now.

You could just go to you're local DMV station and pick up a booklet I suppose.

I've also seen some free sample tests or practice questions on the net which seem helpful. They seem to resemble the questions at the end of the sections in the study booklet.

Go to local secretary of state and ask them for a manual or you can get it off of the state website michigan.gov/sos . They should be able to provide you with one that you can lookover and study. The tests are pretty much common sense but they can use alot of jargon. Just read over the manual and be familiar with the vocabulary. After you take the test and go out to actually take the road test be sure to be familiar with the pre trip inspection.

Michigan TIP

There is a Michigan CDL Manual in .pdf format available for download at MI Secretary of State. You can goto upper left corner and save a copy to your computer for further referance. Chk MI SoS under licenses, then commercial license.
Hope this helps.
