I saw an ad that a company is hiring to transport new bobtail trucks, one at a time, across the USA. Would you say this is a good job? It says pay is from 14-27/hr

Outfits like that usually piggyback other power units onto it, so they'll transport three or four units at one time. Most of them seem to use one of the customer trucks for power, rather than their own, and transport them that way.
I tend to be wary of ads where they're not forthcoming with who the company is. Just my $.02 on the matter.
Other than that, I'll leave it to those with experience in this field to answer the question.

"new bobtail trucks" means trash trucks or straight trucks that cannot be "piggy backed". Power class 7 or 8 can be piggy backed. Hourly pay probably means for your driving time each day. It doesn't mean for you to sleep and eat, or to get back to starting point to pick up another truck. You'll need good kidneys to bobtail a trash truck 2000 miles !

Sounds like a Driveway co. High turn over no money to be made. You pay most expenses including fuel, air tickets car rentals, etc. Look for something better if possible. Just saying.

I heard hauling piggybacks is excellent work and easy money. You'll probably be driving a brand new trk and your company pays for a hotel room.Once you get trks delivered you fly to your next assignment.

I thought that was just a Colorado thing... I've always known a bobtail to be a tractor when it doesn't have a trailer attached, but here, it seems common to use it in reference to any single axle straight truck. Always threw me off.

I met a few drivers at freightliner that did that and they loved it.Never said anything about paying for most expenses.Good question to ask the recruiter though.

I've always been curious of that kind of job too. Be kind of cool. Taking 3 or 4 trucks at once. Staying in hotels and flying. Racking up the points and hotel credits for yourself. Never heard anything about pay or any info at all really. Guess I was curious. But not curious enough too look too far into it. lol.
