Hello all, I had back surgery 27 yrs ago and asked a question on here if it would be a problem and most said should not be.
Well 10 days ago I was working on a airplane here in Korea and ruptured the same disc so 6 days ago had surgery and in hospital now recovering and up walking the halls a little.
So now here is my question, do you think this will cause any problems getting hired because of the surgery and also maybe an insurance risk.
i am not looking to start driving anytime real soon and I will be back in shape before I do apply.
Thanks
Back surgery question AGAIN ???

unless they asked you would not bring it up to your new company. let me ask you a question if you are a skilled aircraft tech. why would want to get into trucking?
dennisroc Thanks this. -
I've only applied at one trucking position where back x-rays were part of the pre-hire process, and it excluded me from the process (lower back issue visible on x-ray) Otherwise, like was said, you can perhaps "forget" to mention this but know that trucking is hard on good backs, never mind backs with weak areas.

Several reasons, I have worked in aviation for many years and done pretty well. I have travelled the world and seen a lot of great things but am 60 now and want to move back to Indiana close to family and friends.
I am also a pilot and own a plane and am also building an airplane from blueprints, have a new Harley in my hangar with less than 1000 miles and a few other toys, I don't want anyone to think I am bragging, I have worked hard to get what I have but have also missed out a lot being out of the country for several years.
I am ready to go home and enjoy my home time and hobbies. As they say money ain't everything.
I will probably work on other people's airplanes and do inspections and such but no desire to work in aviation industry in USA
All my earnings are tax free being overseas which is great but had enough, not about the money anymore,I am 60 time to enjoy life. D
As why I want to get into trucking ? For some reason I have a passion to drive a truck and take the wife along. We always loved long road trips lol
I know trucking is a lot different than what I have been doing but want to give it a shot, maybe OTR then more local after a few yrs.
Tanker sounds good. -
I think as long as you are mobile and can pass the physical it shouldn't present a problem. On the other hand it isn't easy getting hammered in the ### on rough roads. Make sure you do everything you can to take care of the health of your back and your "backside". Find seat positions that work and get whatever seat cushions you need no matter the expense. Being able to sit for long hours at the wheel is critical for success and enjoyment in driving.

We are looking at it as an adventure more than a job but hope to make pretty good money for a newbie. -
dennisrock you answered my question 100% thank you. i was stationed in korea on the dmz for a short time before heading to viet nam. i could not believe how cold it was and the loud speakers were a pain. went thru the imjin school there for some reason. lots of luck
Chinatown Thanks this. -
Our house is in the Philippines so in the winter we try to get there as often as possible to get warm,4 hour flight ,not bad.
Although I do like rice and Kimchi I am ready to go lol -
Can you sit for long periods of time without pain? That would be the first of my concerns.
Second would be, do you take any meds. for any pain?Chinatown Thanks this. -
Then there's the rice...
.... ahhhhhh.... but then again I completely understand the "other" aspects of living in Korea. It is always good to get back to the good ole US of A.
