So I have always been hard of hearing but I have noticed that it had gotten worse sense I started driving. I do drive a 2013 so its not cause I have an old pos truck. I started using ear plugs while driving. They are only 35 decibels. I have noticed it is helping my question is their a law against wearing them while driving that anyone knows of?

So you are hard of hearing and want to further reduce your situational awareness with ear plugs?

How did you get your medical card or is your hearing not that bad?

I don't think there is a law because they encourage bluetooth usage. If there was laws it would be on the state level. How do you hear emergency vehicles approaching?

The only thing I can think of are these medical FAQs. If your hearing has deteriorated past the point you would not pass a physical you are no longer qualified to drive. You could get a hearing aide or waiver.

My medical certificate is still valid. Am I prohibited from operating a CMV if I have a medical condition that developed after my last medical certificate was issued?

    I don't believe there is a law against it - my advice . . .

I played drums in a band for 10 years. I'd cut those earplugs into thirds and just sit them in my ears lightly.

Enough to take the snare crack and Andre's screaming guitar out of the mix . . . but could still hear the rest fine, and wouldn't have that ringing at the end of the night.

I don't see any reason why you can't wear ear plus to drive...Deaf persons can drive, and I am pretty sure there are some blind drivers out there.

I wear a set of bose noise cancelling head sets. I use the rechargeable batteries because they really eat up the power. I take them off when I cross a scale. They are legal but I don't want to push my luck.

When you drive into the sun, you wear sunglasses. So why not wear something to protect your hearing.

The damage to your hearing is caused by the continual sounds of the truck driving down the road. The Bose blocks that. You can still hear cops, firetrucks and children screaming as you drive over them.
