My name is Brandon and I am an ex felon looking for a trucking company that will hire and train an ex offender. I have a robbery (not armed robbery) offense that I committed when I was a teenager. My charge is now 8 years old and I have completely changed my life. I have been able to maintain steady employment since my release. Every job that I have worked I have received both a raise and promotions into leadership roles. I also have letters of recommendation from former employers and receive accolades at my current employer. Unfortunately with being an ex felon the wages aren't so great. I have done alot of research and just about all companies have a 10 year policy and it doesnt help that I need training. I have my cdl permit which can help. I know companies have insurance policy to uphold therefore I am federally bonded and it will be at no cost to employer for 6 months. There also is the work opportunity tax credit, which offers tax breaks for hiring an ex felon. If anyone know of any company interested in a hard working, intelligent, fast learner, PLEASE POINT ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION. THANKS

    Chinatown Thanks this.

Just put felon in the upper left search bar. There are many existing threads answering your questions.

It may be a tough road, Brandon. But it isn't insurmountable. There is a lot of info on here, so do what xls suggested.
Another thing you might think about, is trying to get on at a construction/aggregate hauling company. They usually are not quite as particular, and might be a good stepping stone for you.

I am guessing that this was an offence that occurred after you turned 18? Otherwise, everything should be sealed up by the courts.

Good luck to you. It isn't easy turning your life around, after having screwing up, but it is possible. Realistically, we have all screwed up in some way or another, at some time or another. Often it is just a matter of how bad the screw up, and how long ago.

Go on google. Search trucking companies in Gerogia. Go on craigslist go to the town/city near you click jobs. Then transport. Write down numbers call everyone. The worst thing they could say is no. Good luck

You should have no problem with finding a job in trucking. If you have studied the history of trucking it is not exactly an anti felon industry. What you have to do is work on is your confidence. If you have changed your life, great. Don't make it a habit of telling everyone you meet that you are a felon. Put in on the application when and where they ask for it but do not volunteer it to anyone else. There was a study that found that 70% of the people in this nation have committed a felon. I am a felon myself and proud of it.
You will find that you will only be judged by other drivers on your ability to drive and your willingness to learn. That is called Professionalism. Welcome to trucking and stay out of trouble.

I would like to say that a record being "sealed" doesn't mean its un accessible it just means it can't be used against you in a court of law
