Was thinking about getting Lasik before I go OTR cause I hate wearing glasses and contacts.
Just wondering if there are driving related reasons like some law I don't know about (I know, but just covering the bases) that should keep me from doing it. I also know people who have had it report problems with seeing halos when driving at night.
Anyone who has had this, any feedback would be appreciated.
Lasik?

hey, i got Lasik several years ago,, went from 20/2000 to 20/15 in a few weeks! that is not a typo, 20/2000. i had some nite halo's for a few months, and just dealt with it. however, the doc who did the surgery said he could prescribe a steroid eye drop for nite driving if it was a problem. i had my DOT physical today, and still 20/10!!
check out a few docs that do the surgery, the cost has really dropped over the years... good luck!!

I had Lasik a year ago... I didnt drive for a few days after the surgery but I now have great vision! I didnt really have a problem with halo's but my eyes dry out alot easier than they used to (although not as bad as wearing contacts). For a few months I felt like I was wearing contacts even though I didnt have to clean them lol.
Only problem I continue to have is the need to wear sunglasses during the day. I wore glasses that turned dark automatically for way to many years... I know the thought of having Lasik is scary... but I'd give it 2 thumbs up.... Just make sure you have a good surgeon!
now as for my vasectomy (shivers in horror).... I dont want to relive that one lol -
HA!! I've had a vasectomy as well. All in all, not too bad, if Lasik is anything like that I'll be fine. I imagine the recovery time is much quicker. I was wondering about the halo thing and your eyes drying out easily also.

i was lucky i guess,.. the halos went away after several months, and the dryness too. you will have 3 different eyedrops to use after the surgery, for several weeks, and rewetting drops you can use indefinitely. as far as the sunlite, it will be a big change! your eye is now reshaped, and will be more sensitive to lite.
any good doc will do MANY tests before you are even approved for the procedure. this is for your well being. don't get discouraged if they warn you of the success potential. every one is differerent with the recovery and healing process. -
I had the procedure done in 2005 and I still suffer from dryness and halos at night. My vision is perfect though back to 20/20
