seperate generator should be mandatory

I heard on the xmradio trucker channel talking about making the generators a mandatory piece of equipment on all trucks. Reducing bad air emissions and also keeping the noise level down.

I would especially love to see all the big companies get them on all there trucks ASAP. Give all owner operators and small companies tax credit on all the installations and make all trucks have them installed by a certain date. say maybe 2 years from now.
that would be a great idea and would get some people back to work manufacturing them!

That would be nice. Would also be nice if California would allow you to run them.

Maybe state wide yes
But getting the feds and the state on the same page will be hard.
It doesn't seem like they talk very much?

I was reading somewhere that there are some states that are making laws for APU's so that they have the same pollution equipment as the truck they are mounted on. If someone buys a APU now they will have to make their APU compliant when the laws take effect!

I have always wondered if you could idle in Jersey with an APU? Seems that if they would allow idling of APU's across the board and maybe up the total weight limits to take in account the weight of an APU, more companies might utilize them .

Well, people might regard this as a good idea at first. But after a while they'll complain about the emissions and noise from the generator.
