Gordon Heavy Haul Division

Hello, I live in springfield OR, and in the process of going through driving school. Is heavy haul any more dangerous than typical regional driving for a new driver. I have spoke to a recruiter about this division and they say I can be home on weekends. How many miles do you think I would average in this division. Anybody drive in this division for Gordon.

KC24,

I live in Eugene, OR and are you attending the IITR training in Creswell. If so, how do you like it and is the training top notch.

Take care,

Brad

No, i'm attending one in clackmas because they offer weekend classes. Did you graduate from IITR? Are you driving for anybody now? If so who?

I think that IITR has weekend classes in Creswell. I am not a driver yet, I am looking at IITR training and also the 4 week training that they have at Watkins/Shepard in Missoula, MT. I am trying to decide between Watkins/Shepard and Gordon as they are both highly rated companies.

I first tryed taking classes at creswell, but at this time they dont have a instructor that is willing to teach on weekends, thats why I'm driving two hours away to take the class. If I were you, I would put yourself through your own school instead of company school, because then you get to pick and choose. Not to mention you dont have a contract with them so you can leave any time without consequences. I have also been considering Gordon. IITR has class starting August 11 at clackmas if your intereseted, possibly car pool if you live near by?

YES, heavy loads require more attention and I wouldn't recommend it for new drivers.

KC24,

Gordon has a lot of I-5 corridor runs in the dry van division that should get you good home time if you want.

Gordon

KC24,

i just graduated from the IITR weekend course on Aug 5th in Clackamas. I have been hired on with gordon and my orientation is set for Tue Aug 21st. Recruiter Dave Lowery came into our class and gave a presentation not to long ago. And from what I understand "heavy haul" is a position that a newbie must work his way up to. Ill be starting out in the TC (reefer) division and running allot of the I-5 corridor. They told me that i wouldn't really go any farther east then the Dakota's. I guess I'll see how much truth there is to that. Let me know if you get anymore info. I'd love to hear it... Have fun at IITR. They are an awesome school. Tell Chris the instructer that David said that purple little scion fits him perfectly. HAHA
