Hello everyone i am wondering what is considered a clean mvr for cdl jobs the reason i ask is a local company wants a clean mvr to drive dump trucks, tankers and flatbeds but I have 1 preventable accident in my personal vehicle from december 2011 when i didn't have my cdl I got my class a cdl in may 2014 so i ask does this disqualify me from applying to cdl jobs that require a clean mvr or am i okay in applying to them.

From my experience "clean" means just that. Clean. Nothing within the last 3 years. It won't hurt you to apply. You never know. You might get the job

Generally it means no moving violations on your MVR. Each employer has its own definition of a clean MVR, so nothing is a certainty. An employer will usually ask to also list any accidents in X number of years as well. You may want to get a copy of your MVR to see what is on there and if that accident is listed.

A clean CDL means no violations of any kind for as far back as they require, 3yrs to as far back as 10 yrs, their all different.

But it's the same driving record. A cdl is not a separate license, your prior driving record stayed with you when you turned your class d in for a cdl. No different than if you got a motorcycle endorsement.

You may want to give Central Refrigeration, a call. Providing that I am not wrong, I believe that they go back 3 years. Also, providing that I am not wrong, I believe that their hiring area is all 48 states.

    Central Refrigeration
    5175 West 2100 South
    West Valley City, UT 84120
    1-877-369-6932

If you do get on with Central Refrigeration, try to get as much truck driving experience as possible with them for the next 12 to 24 months, while simultaneously keeping your driving record clean to the absolute best of your ability.

    Good luck to you.

    NOTE:
Central Refrigeration was bought out by Swift, out of Phoenix AZ.

Its still a drivers license. Your accident will more than likely still show-up on an MVR report. Depending on how far they go back. Most app's have you list any accidents in the last 3 years. So it might be a good idea to let them know upfront.

Clean does not have an absolute definition. To some companies it means no violations. To other companies it means anything good enough that their insurance will cover you. I have 2 speeding tickets on my record from before I got my CDL but within the llast 3 years. I found a job and had a couple offers from companies that wanted a "clean" record. The companies told me it was up to their insurance carrier if i was approved or not, and I passed.

Well yes it does. Clean is accident / citation free. Now that being said , some companies may still hire a driver with what " they deem" to be allowable or their insurance carriers wil consider acceptable. No gray area here clean is clean , accident / tickets= not clean that also differs from employable or not employable. A driver cannot make the claim to have a clean MVR if a driver has accidents or citations that will show-up on an MVR check.
