I have been driving small trucks like a dodge 2500 with 24 foot gooseneck and a international 4300 straight truck with a 25 foot bed for 7 years. Always wanted to get my cdl and step up to a semi and i'm now finally doing it. I have already done my computer test and have my permit license but have no access to a truck to take the test on my own. Once I get my cdl a license I would like to just stay local and do LTL or maybe do 7 day trips at most. I have found a lot of company's around that have openings for sure jobs but all require already having your license and don't offer help for getting your license. My question is which companies have a good student driver program or should I just try and find the funding to go to a truck driving school on my own? I have applied to con-way freights student program but have not heard from them yet, and I applied to cr englands program but haven't heard from them either but from what I have read so far is that neither one of those are that great of companies to work for?
Best company for training or just go to a school? georgia

in Georgia go to one of the technical colleges and use the Georgia hope grant. its simple and you aren't obligated to a company for training

The hope grant is only available to those without a bachelor's degree, btw. Just FYI.

If you want to do LTL the only companies that train are cConway or yrc but they are very limited in training positions.. You are better off going to school on your own if you don't want to go over the road,
