:biggrin_25526:I do apologize guys, but yes I do have a lot of questions and I just want to know from the experienced. What is an expediting company, who are they, how do you find them, and do they take newbies or is there a certain amount of time driving that they look for? And oh yeah, what is the pay like for them?

expediting is to do quicker any company can say they do it so there's really no answer. get your experience in and get on with ups or a decent company if you have a degree or a trade do that trucking is a dead end career youll never make more than 100,000 as a company driver and thats if you work 60 a week and you find a grat company and most drivers are making 60k and new 30k

Farm2Fleet in Chattanooga hauls lots of expedited freight. They have a website. Call and ask for Bill.

Landstar, FedEx, UPS Freight, plus thre are load boards dedicated to just expedited freight. I think you are on the right track. Look for a nitch and exploit it to your advantage. There is money in this biz you just have to look for it.

@flybynight1, Yes I do have degrees and work for the government but the thing is, my hours have been cut to less than halftime because of budget restraints and them not wanting to abide by the new ObamaCare thingamajig. Even with me not working for the government, whether you have that piece of paper that states degree on it, it is hard to find a good decent paying job that will have the benefits and full-time. I want to, some day, start my own trucking business but I know I have to crawl before I can walk. I have a lot of people who are shooting a lot of negative things at me and I have some who are shooting positive. Most of the ones who are shooting the positive are the ones who are doing well in their trucking business. The ones who are shooting the negative are the ones who let's just say are not doing so well or who are just out the trucking business for whatever reason. I tell them, let me find out on my own so that I don't have to look back and say, I wish I had done this or that. I know there are downfalls in the trucking business as there are to other businesses. I got these degrees and can do nothing with them except stay in my field and loose all that I still have to pay for or loose what I have already paid for. At least with trucking, I still have a possible chance of keeping my head above water. Oh and right about now 100,000k sounds a heck of a lot better than what my income now is which is under 30,000k. It's heck but hey, I am doing my best to make lemonade out of the lemons that I have been given.

Check the OOIDA website. OOIDA is a business website for the owner-operator and small fleet owner.

There are company drivers that make over a 100k a year...they aren't common because they've been driving truck for decades and have worked for better paying companies for a very very long time. As far as making over 100k goes or even 60k goes please point out the jobs where you only work 40 hours and make that kind of money...oh wait you can't. Any job where you are making 60k or more a year you are going to end up working more than 40 hours a week.

    AquariusDoll Thanks this.
