I been with my girlfriend for 7 years and knew from the beginning when i was in trucking school she wasn't ever fully on board but I did it regardless. So now after a 2 week orientation and now finishing up my second week out with a trainer she's giving me the vibe on how she misses me and wishes I never got into this from the beginning. I picked a flatbed company so I can be home on the weekends but that doesn't seem to be working for her. I'm okay with being away but her being upset is now starting to have an effect on how I feel on the road. Their seems to be no comforting her and I feel it might break us up 6 months down the road. Has anyone been where I'm at now if so have any tips?

This is an industry where family has to be supportive before getting into it. My wife and I came to an agreement and this works for us. I also had to consider her thoughts and feelings, not just my own. If she wasn't supportive, I wouldn't have done it. I would have tried something else. If she gets you to quit and you resent her for it, There will be problems. If you stay out, she will resent you maybe. Try to get her on board or get a local job. Just my opinion...

If you can get a local job. You'll still be driving truck and she will see you everyday.

Some women need their man to be there all the time, they are not comfortable being alone. This is a life style, and not just for us, but for those we leave at home as well. If she doesn't like this already, chances are your relationship will end if you stay the course, if you quit and get a regular job and are miserable, you might blame that on her, and that could end the relationship just as quick.

Been with her for 7 years, perfect, you should be ready to move on anyway.

    Just kidding, or am I...

Seriously, move on, or you will always regret it.

I lost a fiancé to this profession but in the end I was better off without her... I also feel it was easier to concentrate on doing a good job without that distraction in my life. Not trying to be cold or mean but what's meant to be will be
