I've been getting calls from roadmaster for the pass month. I talked to them about getting their 40 hr refresher course that companies are asking me to get because I've been out of driving for 5 years. Roadmaster told me that I would have to pay for it myself and that I would be better off taking their 160 hr course because the company that would hire me would end up paying them and not me. New to all this I said fine. They send me job applications for Trans am and Covenant. I filled them out and send them back. Well today they call telling me that Trans am is going to hire me. I talked to roadmaster and filled out the application before I did my research, but after doing my research I'm very skeptical on both roadmaster and trans am. I asked them to give me something in writing that states that I'm not going to be financially responsible for the school cost and all they are saying is that trans am is going to hire me. What should I do? Should I go to roadmaster and hope that everything goes well and trans am hires me and pays them or should I just go else where?
Roadmasters is on me...

After talking to a lot of guys who went through roadmaster, that course is nothing more than a joke. There are so many people in the class, and so few vehicles to go around, that you end up standing around more then you do getting to do maneuvers. One of the guys at TMC orientation said that he never had more than 2 hours road driving. Hell at my school I had a total of 25 hours road driving, and of those, 10 were city driving. Roadmaster is a joke. And TransAm is a huge mistake. If I was you I would speak to someone at a Community College that offers the course. Most companies will give you a tuition reimbursement for the school

most likely the loan will be in your name and whatever company you go with, will pay your monthly payment as long as you work there.

I agreee.. the best route to take is to go to a good private school or community college... most companies offer tuition reimbursement.. so although it may cost you up front you get it back...

I drive for TransAm and they do NOT offer tuition reimbursement. They generally offer a higher starting wage than most of the starter companies and that helps offset paying your school loan. I do believe you can coordinate with them and have your loan payment made automatically, but it still comes out of your settlement and you are the one financially responsible for it. I'm happy driving for them and have been here a year and a half. But don't let Roadmaster suck you in under false pretenses.

There's nothing on TransAm website about tuition reimbursement.
Call the recruiter and tell her that.
Most companies recruit from Roadmasters & many, many have tuition reimbursement.
Schneider has tuition reimbursement and you might be lucky and get the tanker division. They even fund certain CDL schools so you don't need any cash up front.yankeefan Thanks this. -
