Wife and I got our CDL permits today. I also got my tanker, and double triple endorsements and she'll get hers next week. Two more weeks of class then off on our new adventure!

Meanwhile our search for our first company continues!

Good luck. Here is a website I use quite a bit for sometimes finding those out of the wall places for hubby to park:

    www.findfuelstops.com

Make sure you get a login info to use it more effectively. Put in city and state for beginning city and ending city, click on a fuel stop and pull up in a separate window and it will tell you of other places possibly in the same area such as rest areas. Not all fuel stops are ones you can park at though. Any Walmart listed needs to be called first to verify that you can park there overnight, some will not let you. Also use the map listed or maps.google.com to zoom into area and look around, some of the Walmarts have too many island and trees to park in and get out of safely. Also use google to map the trip, look at shippers and receivers, hunt out addresses (we all should be the FBI here), and no not all shippers/receivers have people who answer a phone now. Google time and truck time are not the same, etc.

Good luck to your adventures, hope you enjoy. It is one way to see the seasons, leave -10* weather and hit *80 in the same day.

Hey I forgot to post the number for Travel Centers of America, you can call and book ahead if you know it is going to be hard to find parking at night, if you are desperate for a place, it sometimes is an option. 855-847-7275 is the number to book over the phone. Non-refundable, yada, yada.

Wonderful, you'll be complaining in no time. Just kidding, best of luck. The 2 most important things I can think of for new drivers is, watch those controlled intersections for red light runners, and G.O.A.L.( get out and look)

    Good stuff you two!

I think you're in a great position to start.

Now - I'll warn you. If it all turns pear shaped, the good wife will blame YOU and YOU alone!

Best of luck - of course you make your own a lot of the time.
