What do think, why do you think it is, or is not the best job in trucking?

What are the benefits, the cons?

    How physical is it?

How long have you done it, your age now, when you moved on?

    Thanks for the input!

It's the pay and the vast majority of LTL drivers are home every night and have 2 days a week off that is why LTL jobs are viewed as the best jobs in Trucking.

I wont even go into the whole union and company crap !

No thank you I will keep my old truck and be as happy as a clam .

LTL drivers from Fedex and UPS can and do make 100k or more a year. The only other company drivers that can compete with that is Walmart drivers but unlike UPS and Fedex they are an OTR gig and you can't get home every night.

That is the biggest difference between local drivers and OTR drivers. Local drivers don't want to drive all around the country living as nomads where OTR drivers do.

    Yeah.
That woman: it's five past five and she's calling her non-trucker boyfriend to arrange some happy time.
She: "And be sure to pick up some kitty litter on your way home."
    He: "Yes dear."

And I see something totally different. I see a woman trapped inside four white walls day after day after day with a pile of paperwork that's never finished. Her soul dying a little bit with every second that clicks on that clock.

Like to find a good mix of the two. A local company that also has some regional freight and OTR options. Get bored of one you might be able to switch.

Personally I like shaving in my own sink and sleeping in my own bed. Why pay the bills on something I don't get to enjoy? Even if it's only a few hours a day before having to hit the sack again, the little things like opening your own refrigerator to pull out left overs is huge.
