    Good morning,

it's morning where I am at right now. I've been here a few days now and like the honesty behind many of the responses to people's questions. I even enjoy reading the replies by trucking company recruiters/shills acting like drivers and singing praises about certain companies.

Our industry needs new drivers but we need drivers who give a crap, who are not whiny, cry babies and who are actually concerned with learning how to drive a truck!!!.

Too many people are sitting in truck driving schools that are provided by training carriers, you know, the CRST's, FFE, etc. They haven't even made it through week three, don't even have a CDL yet, no job with that carrier who's footing the bill for their school on the front end yet, are talking crap about how bad they have it, how little they will be paid, how bad the equipment is, etc. They are telling those who've been there done that for years all these horror stories.

Lets not romanticize this industry. It's tough work, it's hard sitting for hours in a truck, it's hard sitting and waiting to be loaded and unloaded, it's tough being down in a shop with no answer to how long you'll be there.

Don't refer to your FM or the recruiter as your friend. Your just one of many they deal with daily. Shippers will have no issue telling you hurry up and wait, receivers will tell you go sit in your truck and when I'm ready for you, I will let you know.

Understand this up front. Get your head out of your ### and smell the coffee. You will drive a truck that might just have a few hundred thousand miles on it, that isn't so pretty to look at, the clutch is tight and not so easy to engage, may have a long service history.

Your going to earn wages that may actually be just one step above what shelf stockers at Dollar Tree earn, and you may not be treated with any level of respect that you find to your liking.

But here is the bright side. You spend your time learning how to drive, how to properly load freight, how to properly secure that freight, deliver on time, learn to zip your pumpkin pie hole and open your ears and learn to listen and retain what your hearing, get miles under your belt, don't Jack knife your truck because your too busy running your mouth on a cell phone or fighting with the source of your baby mamma drama and grow up and be an adult, you might just become a solid truck driver who can move on after a year and get into a company that you will actually not be able to whine about.

Baby mamma drama. That's rich. Get an old truck that the shift pattern on the dash is gone. You figure it out. Old truck-new driver. New truck-old driver.

    Hmmm okidokie,

sounds like I'm being a crybaby too? I'm a realist, I probably worded that the way 99% of those here would but never will.

did I say anything that isn't true????

Your a funny guy aren't you? Perhaps your one of those trucking company shills? You'd have to be to have that reaction.

Trucking industry sucks because of the people. Trucks and freight are cool. The trucking industry people suck. Until that changes, the entire industry will suck. Now some of you here who are really good people, this does not apply. There are good folks in trucking. Many. But just as many with LOTS of bad attitudes. I am glad to be a government driver now because I still get to drive, get treated right, make decent pay, there is no profit incentive pushing me hard, just "get it there" in law-abiding, reasonably good time, and I am home most nights, never gone longer than five days, and that probably only happens two or three times a year. Plus I park in a government lot, take my per diem, and go stay in a nice motel for the night. I cannot imagine driving for the big carriers. They are complete and utter shameful entities.

Jimmy, I was trucking when you were in a crib. I had a lot of fun trucking, and the thing that got me through the rough spots, was a sense of humor, and I brightened up a lot of peoples day. If you are that serious, go into law enforcement. You aren't telling us anything new, we dealt with those issues 30 years ago, nothing has changed. Like the freight haulers motto was years ago, "Don't worry about it".

If you think trucking sucks go into law enforcement. That would be out of the pan & into the fire.
