Just graduated august 23rd. I live in charlotte nc and was wondering if anyone knew of good companies to start with in this area for recent grads? I don't know if this helps but I'm 24 year old...right now I'm looking at TMC and Schneider is right behind them. Thanks for any advice.

Perhaps you could try Tyson Foods out of Springdale Arkansas, 1-800-933-6442. They have a reputation of paying their drivers quite well, along with having excellent benefits. I am NOT sure if their trucks are all automatics, or a mixture of both automatics and manual transmissions.

Charlotte NC may be in their hiring area.

    NOTE:
They may be selective about which truck driving school you have attended.

You may still want to give them a call. Their drivers drive OTR to all 48 states.

    Good luck to you!

Epes is based out of North Carolina. May want to check them out as they do offer a recent grad training program. I've never really heard anything bad about them,so that in and of itself says something. Lol. Good luck with whomever you choose...;-)

Personal choice, but I wouldn't do it. Ruin your back.
One reefer company I worked for got lots of their drivers from the beverage companies, including Coca-Cola and Pepsi, and they all had serious back problems.

    Did you try Tyson Foods?
Howard Transportation is another good one.

Good gravy!! Take the Coca-Cola, great exercise, get you home every night, equipment will be top notch, you'll work hard and will need to go to a gym to stay in over all great shape, sleep like a baby. Get your year in and let us know how you like it. Or not!

Or listen to the professional recommenders, go mega OTR and start letting the lack of exercise, long hours, low pay start grinding you down...

Hey! What's wrong with being fat, unhappy, overworked and romantically deprived?? Go OTR!!
